    It's like text messaging with one twist...the whole world can hack into your mobile, and see what you're sending and what others are sending you.

    Only, the world doesn't really hack into your mobile. You're just daft enough to post it on the WWW where every man and his dog can read it if they wish!

    Consider it like blogging, limited to 140 characters. Only instead of subscribing to the feeds of your favorite blogs, you 'follow' people.

    Something like that.

    Twitter is a microblog where you update with short posts of only 140 characters. You post short blurbs called tweets about what you are doing at that time and other people can "follow" you and see your posts and you "follow" other people who you want to see what they are doing.

    You can also message back and forth with the people you follow and follow you with the @ symbal before their username, or just use the direct message system they have.

    It is a great way to build relationships with people you normally would not in any other way. It is easier and quicker than email.

    It sounds strange at first, but it is a great tool to use.

    I thought it was strange as well.
    Kinda like walking into an already started conversation?

    That was before I found the 'private message' button

    Here's what I did... rather than announce my ignorance
    (I saw quite a few people's first post saying "now what do i do?" and "wondering what to do next")
    I pm-ed someone and begged knowledge lest I look ignorant before God and every body

    After you get used to it, it's kinda neat!

    you check out a friend of a friend, see what types of people they're microblogging about... if you see they're into what you're into Follow

    I follow anyone into real estate/ relocate/ moving industry etc

    for now anyway
