A young man comes to your door, and says he's trying to make money shoveling driveways. You asked him how much it's going to cost you...and he replies with 1 dollar. You pause for a moment, because you have quite a large driveway.

You respond with:

a - "sure". and go get the dollar.

b - "sure", but I don't feel right just paying you a dollar, how's $5 sound."

c - "sure", go get the dollar, than ask "and do you also mind shoveling the front side walk too, thanks"

Thanks Try to be honest..

PS - If you don't have a driveway, or any snow PRETEND YOU DO!

What is this thing called snow?

I'd tell him he was in the wrong hemisphere and that there is no snow in Sydney at this time of year, or any other time for that matter. I'd then show him on a map where Toronto is and suggest he try there.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I have plenty of free samples I can provide!

To answer the OP's question, I would give the kid more than a dollar, probably more like 5 or 10 bucks.

    Hi,

There was a teen age girl walking around the neighborhood selling children's books.

She went on for a half hour showing my kids books and asking them questions. She then turned to my wife and I and asked us if we wanted to buy some books.

I told her to ask my kids. After all, she spent all that time selling to them.

When she did, they told her they didn't have money, we (the parents) had the money.

She shot me an angry look.

I had to explain parents hear "I want" from kids all day long, and we ignore it 99% of the time, and now she had to sell the books to my wife and I.

    You could do something similar.

Tell the kids, "Ya, I'll pay you a dollar. But I would have paid you five dollars."

Teach them to negotiate by the length of the driveway, or teach them to say, "I'll save you two hours of cold feet and fingers for a measly three bucks."

The sky is really the limit of what you could teach kids. My two are sponges.

Tell the kids at your door, "Listen, if you go next door and ask for two dollars instead of one dollar, come back and I'll give you an extra dollar."

I'd definitely want to know why he's working so cheap. If he looked hungry enough to do that kind of work to get some money, I'd probably feed him first.

A young man. Ah, that changes everything.

Ya. I'd tell him to get lost. I have two kids to do it
