earthquakes and the moon

I know that lakes from large dams can trigger quakes - so the moon should trigger even more with the volume of water it displaces.

Perhaps the moon does but the quakes mostly happened already - where as a dam produces new stress

How can it be that siesmologists argue that the weight from a dam can cause quakes but displaced water from lunar gravitation does not ?

The gravity of the moon is not that strong. It can cause high tides but its effects are certainly not enough to cause earthquakes.

From what I know, quakes are caused by the shifting of tectonic plates on which land masses rest. Of course, I am no expert on the subject.

    Hi gareth,
Dear I think there is no relation between earthquakes and moon. The gravitational force of moon is not as much which can cause any swear damage on earth.

The site offers weather predictions for a fee - not the best place perhaps to gain scientific knowledge?
