Nope. It won't end. Some fools will maybe end themselves, but the world will go on without them.

The world will continue ticking over. I do predict a massive reduction in population, due to famine, natural disasters, wars, disease (we are over populated). The volatile state the world is in worries me a lot.

The hatred and the firebrand that is sweeping across the Muslim world right now is a major concern.

It is inevitable that there are some that will want to use this momentum to their own advantage.
The hatred against dictatorships that we are witnessing in the Arab world can easily be redirected towards the west with the flick of a switch.

I correct myself. The hatred towards the west is already there, it just needs to be "channeled properly".

Some very wicked people in this world indeed.

Some believe it will only be a change in consciousness. Some are getting ready with food and unsinkable boats.

I hope it is only a change in consciousness which is really needed. Too scary what is going on around.

I don't know about the percentages or the dates, but obviously we have a surplus of crazies who believe something big and something really, really bad is about to happen. In that sense, it becomes a deceptive self-fulfilling prophecy because they'll overreact to every little thing that seems to be remotely connected to their feared apocalypse. The media has been obsessed with this and goes after it for the ratings and the increased revenue that comes with higher ratings.

The whack jobs and the media feed off each other, so brace yourselves for a global pandemic of hype, misinformation, hysteria, with wall-to-wall coverage on every "news" channel. You can bet that's how it's going to be progressively played in the media.

To further complicate matter, the usual suspects, both foreign and domestic, are keenly aware of the growing crises and will go to unprecidented lengths to take maximum advantage of them all.

So, yes, there's going to be a lot of "proof" that this is fulfillment of the so-called Mayan prophesies and/or the End Time from the Bible.

December 21, 2012 is a Friday, so Saturday morning, December 22, 2012, everyone will be saying that they knew it was a hoax all along. "Nothing to see here, move along."

Seriously? You honestly think 690,823,155 to 1,036,234,732 people are going to die, and that's above and beyond those who are born? That's 690 million to 1.036 billion.

      Even if it does happen...

None of us will know about it because I'm sure Charlie Sheen/Lindsay Lohan/Random Kardashian will be of much more importance.

      All the best,

If you believe the words of a culture who thought they had to sacrifice a live human everyday or else the sun wouldnt come up... then yeah 2012 might be scary.

Personally my grandfather had me scared ****less that Jesus was coming back in 1982, and I stayed up till midnight freaking out wondering if I was gonna go to hell or not... actually it was like 3am, because when it didnt work the FIRST time, we all kept thinking that maybe Jesus was just operating from a different time zone or something... Maybe he was coming in from the WEST coast...?

When we all woke up in tact the next morning, I realized that "just cause people believe something, that dont make it true..." 2012 doesnt worry me.

For one thing the Mayans never said the end will be 2012, just a end of a period (of which they had many periods). I.E. 2013 will come as normal. Even the living Mayan decedents today say it does not mean the world will end in 2012 and life will go on like normal.

Like Nostradomus, he didn't predict anything, quatranes are postdictions . And it's proven time and time again that these were meanings for events in his time. Yet something happens in our time and people try to find the "quatrane" it could "fit into" since his words could mean 100 different things... pretty laughable lol.

On January 1, 2013, these discussions will suddenly disappear - until some genius somewhere announces "the world will end in 2019...then it will start over.

If the Mayans were so proficient in predicting the future - seems like they would have saved their own civilization. These prophecies always get blamed on people who aren't around to explain them....

The next end of the world after 2012 is 2029, when a comet comes really close to the earth, and potentially hit.

Then after that is when same comet might hit the earth again three years later after it circles the sun.

Then after that disco music makes a come back and the older generation deliberately does the world in.

You nailed it, Kay. I'd kinda like to know who is responsible for turning the Mayan calendar into the end of the world and why they did so.

The human species is in a bit of a jam and we have literally caused the 6th major extinction. Scientists don't know yet if it can be stopped or how far it can go before we go, too. If, as "intelligent" beings, we aren't smart enough to keep our numbers sustainable and avoid poisoning everything we touch, it's really not a bad idea if we do go extinct - at least for anything else that wants to survive on this rock.

I have come to accept the fact that truly, although we spend our lives seeking to be able to control our circumstances, ultimately, we are all just free falling in space and are truly at the whims of the cosmos.... seems we have just had a long lucky streak of no major collisions or disasters...

We have to be realistic. I doubt the end of the world is in a near timeframe but have a look at what happened in Japan. Things do get worser believe it or not... but i think 100 years from now, i doubt we will all be living peacefully haha.

It will be the completion of the world's tilt. The earth started this tilt on the 12 March 1958 and the tilt will be completed by 22 December 2012. But that does not mean the end of the world. It means a new beginning.

If you think about it, the world comes to an end every night when you go to sleep and when you wake up the next day, it's a new world. Endings are simply all a matter of how you look at things.

There are no guarantees folks, except we all check out at some point and you never really know when it's your turn.

If you really want to give you mind something to chew on, check out the movie "Dark City". The ending is weak, but the overall concept of the movie is quite fascinating.

Is it all just an illusion? ;-)

    Cheers!

I'm not sure, but I think there will be some sort of significant change somewhere in the world. Probably more to do with how mankind behaves or acts towards the world. A new "green age" perhaps?

Who knows whit all these natural disasters and tsunami's bashing about, it could be the age of aquarius! We might have to evolve and grow fins ha!

Since I watched the first post-apocalyptic movie(don't know exactly which one), this was one of my hidden wishes, to live in a post apocalyptic world. Don't blame me, but I would really like something more interesting.

The world will not end, and if it does, I won't care. If I die, it won't matter anyway and if I'll live, it will just be more interesting, so whatever.
