Anyone here a financial guru?

OFF TOPIC

I know nothing about stocks or bonds or CDs or anything. I have quite a sum of cash and I want to invest it somewhere that I will see a good return on my investment.

Anyone have any advice?

  What kind of return are you expecting?
  
  How much risk as you willing to take?
  
  What is your time frame for the investment?
  
  How much time do you want to be spending managing it?
  
  How much is a lot? (Very different investment strategies if you are talking about $200,000 vs $2,000)

Yeah I know silver is way down right now as I sold some gold the other day (since it was way up) and they were paying pennies for silver than what they were paying for gold.

That is definitely worth some thought. Thanks Bill.

I bought silver a couple of years ago when it was $7-8 an ounce.

It is a nice investment over time but can be very volatile. It is high return but can be very high risk as well. From July to November 2009 it dropped 50%. It took a year to recover.

It is a nice place to put some money but only if you recognize the risk involved.

  I've been investing in stocks for over 17 years, and made a fortune just in the last couple of years by investing when stocks were at bargain basement prices.
  
  You probably could still get a decent return in the financial markets through specialty real estate investment mutual funds or high growth mutual funds as there still are quite a few distressed real estate markets and small caps bargains left.
