Wasn't sure where I might put this so I am putting it here. If there is a better forum to post it please let me know...

I have a web site and never had that much of a problem before but suddenly now I am getting spam every day from people and they all look like this:

So I have a Web Form on my web site and they fill out the form and send me this crap. It must be a bot of some sort because sometimes what they write seems to indicate that they think by doing this they're getting a backlink, but there's no back link ,it's just a comment / contact me form that sends an email to me which I delete.

Since the email comes to me at my address and has the subject line the same as all my LEGITIMATE subject lines, I can't make a filter in yahoo mail to filter it out.

Oh, and all the spam says Through: Infoseek. But since that's in the body not the subject line I don't think I can filter it... or can I? Hmmm. I didn't think so but I'll check on that...

Any ideas on how to stop this spam?

Thanks.

Try adding a captcha to your contact form, that should slow them down

I've never personally configured the e-mail client Windows Mail (Thunderbird is also good) to work with a free email host like Yahoo, Hotmail, Aol, etc. But if you use that software to download all of your email to your hard drive, I believe that you can set up message rules to pretty much weed out any email item you need to...

if your using wordpress then the captcha there talking about is just a plugin you do not need to know programming.

      Akismet will help stop spammers
SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam is another good one to stop spammers

These work in wordpress so check it out.

you should have posted the IP, run the ip search through IP Address Lookup - Home page see where the range is located, then blacklist the whole IP range.... unless they're using proxies through a spam tool of some kind

      Thanks for all the advice.
Unfortunately I was unable to implement the recaptcha widget.
I wish it were on a Wordpress or etc where it's all a matter of a simple plug-in. Unfortunately it is for a web site I built, but while I can use Dreamweaver I do not understand the instructions given for adding this recaptcha widget.

I might be able to figure it out but doing so looks like it would take hours, and quite possibly prove frustrating as well, and I don't have that kind of time available to me. Guess I'll just have to keep getting and deleting the spam. But thanks anyway.
