I have a website that just got ranked to position 3 on page 1 of Google out of 3 million+ results. WP site about 1 month old....

The problem is: the results only show on my computer. I cleared the history, cache - etc and it still shows position 3...great, right?

When I have other people (potential clients and friends) do a Google search for same term - it does not show up.

Is this typical? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you use any Google products it keeps a record of websites you have visited, and when you type something into the search engine, it not only gets its typical results, but goes through those, as well, and then tries to anticipate what you are looking for. Since you have probably visited your own site fairly often, it may be giving it a bump up in the results on your machine.

Go into your Google settings and turn it off. That's an invasion of privacy, anyway. See if it then gives the same results as the other computers.
