Update on computer problem - solution
Old thread seems gone so maybe it got over the top or something.
Just to let everyone know - the reason I continued to have problems after managing to find and capture the trojan virus infection on my computer is the malware had installed in the rootkit.
Thanks to my tech I found a little jewel to share here.

You might want to make a note of it - it's a powerful protection.
Free download - took 2 minutes for it to find the root problem and remove it. After that I had to uninstall and re-install AVG and reboot a couple times.
However, my computer is now 10x faster than it was and I think we finally solved the entire problem. Keeping fingers crossed - but everything looks like a "go".
