Hi guys I'm new here I found this site while searching for info about SEO and internet marketing. I'm just getting into the internet website world and I hope to begin some sort of part-time effort and really get into the opportunities that are present online.
I recently created my first website in which I aim to showcase my art and hopefully generate some traffic at garretbohl.com .
Are there any artists around here that would like to network a little or anyone that could perhaps give me some info or tips on how to get going generating traffic with such a website? The site still isn't finished but I think i've decided i'm going to try to focus on wallpapers and the keywords "digital art wallpapers" since those are highly searched for, but i'm having trouble generating any hits to my site though.
Anyways I thought i'd go ahead and introduce myself and see how everyone is. Also i was wondering if anyone had any advice to offer me on whether i should rename my whole site Digital Art Wallpaper rather than Digital Art and Photography since those are the keywords ill prob try to focus on?

Thanks! This looks like a great site!

Hi, I like the design at your site. Great work . But i suppose you haven't done any SEO for your site. Your domain is quite new. Your site is not indexed at all. There is no meta tags, content. You have to optimize your site to get traffic.

Regarding the renaming of your site, if you want to go for branding, you could go on with the current domain name, use your keywords in internal page naming. It would also help you in your SEO.

Hey thanks so much for your response! I'm so glad you like the design i have so far it's the first one i've made i just have trouble deciding what i need to add. I've been trying to do some SEO but I know i have a lot of work to do though; I'm having trouble figuring out where to begin and what kind of content i can add to my site really though haha unless i start writing articles or something. I think the site is indexed by google though it'll come up doing a search for site:garretbohl.com or just garret bohl, i need to do a lot of optimization though for keywords that are highly searched for.

If i'm branding with my current domain name would it work and would i be able to rank high still if i tried to optimize for example garretbohl.com/wallpapers for the keywords "digital art wallpapers" or should i optimize the main sites index page just garretbohl.com for those keywords and focus on that set of keywords for my whole site?

    Thanks again!

I checked out your site. Those are great images. Very impressive.

It looks to me like title, keyword and descriptions are all in place. Maybe you should add something about copyright? I would suggest hiding your generator, since that just makes it easier for malicious hackers to come in and do damage. Here's what I see in meta:

head title : Garret Bohl .com Digital Art and Photography - Home
    robots : index, follow
keywords : Garret Bohl, digital art, photography, wallpaper ( 4 items )
    rights :
    language : en-GB
    title : Home
    author : Super User
description : Digital Fractal Art, Photography, and Wallpapers of Garret Bohl ( 63 characters )
generator : Joomla! 1.6 - Open Source Content Management
    SCRIPT
    Google Analytics | Official Website
    s7.addthis.com
    Signature

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you like my work!!
So do you think my keywords and descriptions and stuff are decently well done?

Also I have a copyright line at the very bottom right of the page, but should i add more though like maybe a page/link about it?

Also when you say hiding your generator how do you go about doing that? I've been doing some searching having trouble finding the right information though, but that hides that i'm using Joomla for my website?

      Thanks!

This worked on Joomla! 1.5 for me. Should work for Joomla! 1.6. If it doesn't, let me know.

Find <jdoc:include type="head" /> in the template you're using (Template>Edit Html), and paste this code just above it to hide Joomla! generator and version.
        <?php $this->setMetaData('generator','my site'); ?>

Looks good to me. I guess it depends on what you want people to know about you and your site. Is your objective to be sharing images, selling images, creating images for other people?

That is a legal question. I'm not a lawyer. My friend Sandford Tuey is an expert on it. He's not a lawyer, but has been paid $300 an hour to lecture lawyers on the subject. Here's his website:

Great thanks so much!! I got the generator tag changed already, that really helped me out a ton! i wouldn't have realized that that was an important thing to change for a very long time i think.

Yea those are important things i need to decide on actually though haha, i better get going on that, would like to turn it into a side job somehow but I need to figure out how im going to do that.

Thanks for the info about the copyright too and the link to the website, that reminds me that i need to do a lot of research and make sure that i'm actually protecting myself when putting my stuff up online.

Thanks again for all your help!
