Anyone else find it a strange coincidence that Magellan discovered the Straight of Magellan?

    Internet's an interesting place...

    This is out of the 'so you think people are messed up now' dept..

    You know in 1916 an elephant killed it's trainer....so they put the elephant on trial and then hung it.. WTH..The people were Barnum and Baileys main competitor at the time.

    And it's true...it's on the net....:p


    That's one of the stranger stories I've read in awhile...

    Maybe it's famous and I just lead a sheltered life.

    I'd put the picture up, but the ladies would have a cow...







    Anyway, the story goes on to say that a giant elephant astronaut is headed for earth, looking for revenge. But it also says it may miss, because as all lucid people know elephants can't drive a UFO worth peanuts.

    Apparently a deal was struck many years ago between the elephant aliens and the Illuminati.

    Planet of the Apes was a cleverly planted ruse...

    So we wouldn't stockpile mice...

      Kim, I go to that site everyday. They have 6 new videos a day. Not a lot of time...

      Seriously though, I thought that was one of the stranger stories I'd come across in a while. Even found it had it's own Wiki page...I've never heard of it.

        It had it's own Wiki page...

        A few years ago a friend of mine emailed me a story that was obviously totally bogus but he believed it because someone had sent him a link to it that included a Wiki page.

        I explained to him that people put up Wiki pages about all sorts of bogus stuff, but he just couldn't grasp that. He kept arguing that if it had a Wiki page it was probably a true story.

        But the graphics for this strory (his) were obviously Photoshopped so I re-photoshopped them and sent him the 'new' images to prove my point.

        I also went to the the bogus Wiki page and changed a few of the facts...I made him the star of the show along with another friend of ours who was also arguing for the legitimacy of the story. (This story was so bogus it was comical)

        I was lucky enough to get him to go the Wiki page before the author changed it back to the original bogus story so he could see his name in lights.

        However, once he saw it was possible to 'alter' the facts, in this case using his name as the lead charactor, he became somewhat sceptical from that point forward about BS Wiki pages.

              NO I agree it's a good point to make, even I the eternal skeptic, tend to believe Wiki more than I should.
              If you look around you can usually debunk the debunkable.... (that would make a cool song)

            It won the town election.

    Ha KJ.
    Reminds me of numerous times on a different forum,now long deceased,that people would cite wiki as a definitive source and I would have to show them the error of their ways.

    Wiki CAN be a good source,and I have used it numerous times myself, but like you said, just because its on wiki doesn't make it factual.
