Okay -= please -- Nobody yell about politics. This story isn't about Politics. It is, however, about freedom and I feel it's a story that every person on earth should read. It's a beautiful story. I don't care who ya are. This story is worthy of thought no matter what part of your life you associate it to.

    He's awesome!!

I wouldn't want to run into this guy on the wrong side of the battlefield.

He certainly deserves to fly the flag any way he wants and the neighborhood should be proud to have him.

    God bless his soul.

      That whole story was great.
I got a chuckle out of this.

Sal in no way do I want this to detract from your story, but here is another man who seems to be cut from the same cloth.
I've know about this man for a few years now, but this year watching this story it actually brought tears to my eyes.

I don't think it detracted from my story at all Thom. A story of a man with courage and an undying support for what he stands for - and the guy that refuses to leave any man like him go un-saluted. I wish we would have lived in times that EVERYONE felt so strongly about who we are and appreciated it so. If you can't stand for who you are and your way of life - what else is there to stand for?

I LOVE reading stories like that. It makes me think there is still HOPE! You know pandoras box? It is said that the one spirit that stayed in the box was that of HOPE!

For me the highlight of the story was this:

WE ONLY LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE...

BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE! AND, BECAUSE OF OLD MEN LIKE VAN BARFOOT.
Big names talk a lot - but it's the little guys that often walk the walk.

Tim Chambers is damned amazing! Can't imagine how painful that must have been. It's sad how many people don't even know that respect like that exists.

      So Mr Oncewewerewarriors, Um......

Yes that seems to be the case, but those are not the only reasons a society or community, if you rather allows some to break rules - Allegiance can be a unreckoned and unreasoning force - and it is an instinctual reaction. I would be more afraid of those who have logical excesses of allegiance than those who align themselves materialistically - ever feed bacon to a badger?
