Hi Guys I need some advice.

I'm getting on top of my spam with the help of 0Spam.com a free untility that's great at cutting out spam - well worth downloading. There is one difficulty though

Some of the spam artists who have got hold of my email address are spaming me with my own address!! One of my main address is kevin at abcwritersnetwork.co.uk and I'm now starting to get 'invites' and the like from my own address, and I don't know how to deal with them.

Thunderbird is my mail program but I can't very well choose to mark emails coming from myself as junk so can anyone tell me how I can nuke these messages.

And a Spam Free New Year to all

Do you use a free email address or your own domain. I found that free email addresses are bad for spam. The only spam that I get from my domain addresses is "can I help your SEO" stuff but that is irregular and almost none.

kah, I get those too..got one today, in fact. They are so annoying!

look at the full headers..(Click "view" and then "headers" and then select "full") you'll see an IP address. If your hosting account has some sort of CPanel, use the IP deny function and enter the IP address of the offending spammer

If it is your domain and you have cpanel do this:
in cpanel click the 'email authentication' option in the email section.
    Enable SPF.
    SPF

SPF will specify which machines are authorized to send email from your domain(s). This means that only mail sent through this server will appear as valid mail from your domain(s) when the SPF records are checked.
It should be filled in with your details already.
Click 'update' at the bottom of the page.

What you are suffering from is 'domain spoofing' and enabling SPF should help reduce this.

I am having the same issue. Where about in Cpanel is 'email authentication' as having trouble finding it.

I had someone using my e-mail address to spam others from spam I was getting. I finally had someone sending me all kinds of viruses.....thank G-d I have a mac and the viruses were PC only. I had to delete and re-write e-mail accounts in order to stop it. I still get some spam in my old e-mail addresses but it's not as much.

I am getting emails from my own domain names promoting this, that and the other in fact generally 10-12 per day.

I tried looking for SPF (email authentication) in the email section of cpanel but I cannot find it and it is more than irritating to receive these spoof emails and well, for my customers to get them as well just undermines the trust I try so hard to build. Blocking IP doesn't help really as they use different IPs for every message.

    - Can anybody help?

    Regards Roger
