Can't Get An Answer

Have asked this question 3 times in various areas of this forum and can not seem to get an answer.

I'm new to IM, and an thinking of setting up a website through WP.

My question is:

1. Should I have one website with a main menue.
URL Beverages.com Menue to read: Wine, Beer, Scotch, ect

2. Multiple sites with sub-domains beverages.com/wine
beverages.com/beer Beverages.com/schotch

The reason I ask is that google just dropped sites because of
Panda ????? What ever that is. How about links, which way is best??

Any thoughts or help ?? PLEASE

    ...is not a subdomain, it's merely a directory (folder) in the main domain. A true subdomain will look like a directory from the view via an FTP program will show you, but the URL would actually be: wine.beverages.com

    A subdomain has the subdomain name before the domain name in the url.

    Panda was a major algorhitm change at Google. They basically wanted to purge the top search results of autoblogs, scraper sites, and other types of sites with poor quality content and unoriginal content. If you're creating an original content site I wouldn't worry about Panda.

    As for which way to set up the site would be better depends on more factors than you've given, but generally speaking, if all your content is alcohol related I'd keep it all in the root directory. Put your non-alcohol related pages in a separate folder -- that would include your contact page, privacy policy, terms of use, etc., including off-topic content pages.

    It used to be subdomains worked better than folders for ranking purposes when separating content by topic, but I don't think it makes much difference anymore.

      Did you try the SEO section which is where this should go? Posting it in multiple sections is a good way to get your posts deleted as it will look like your spamming or just trying to boost post count. Not saying you're doing that, but it could look that way to people.

    Agreed, this thread should be in the seo forum.

    OP, like Dennis said a sub domain url would look like this wine.beverages.com

    That subdomain will also act as a unique site in Google SERPs.

    You have to ask yourself "Would my target traffic be interested in beer, wine, & scotch?".

    If the answer above is yes, then create categories on a single domain:

    1) beverages.com/wine/

    2) beverages.com/beer/

    3) beverages.com/scotch/
