Gmail Getting Spammed to Hell Today?

My gmail account is getting spammed to hell and back. I have over 2000 of these messages in my Inbox right now and more keep pouring in, only about 200 have been caught by google as spam:



The email content is all random characters:



Anybody else getting this in their gmail accounts today?

      Nothing in Gmail but I noticed in my office outlook inbox I had about 20 "You didn't fill in your tax return and will be fined, please open the attachment" ones.

      Standard dodgy file in there from addresses like 35424bhjdqnb3@IRS.gov. I mean, if they wanted people to open them, surely something like John@IRS.gov or admin or anything that doesn't look like the most blatant spam in the world.

      Sounds odd but I can spot spam a mile off because, um, they're so crap at covering the fact they're spammers. :rolleyes:

    It's interesting that 3 quarters of them are marked as important. (the little yellow pointer) Personally I'd like to disable that little system. I checked around in settings and couldn't see a way to do it.
