career on PHP?

WHO KNOWS!?!?!? SERIOUSLY! When I was a kid, people told me COBOL! I laughed and ridiculed the idea and they said I was stupid and ignorant. I don't think COBOL was even really viable for more than 10 years, probably LESS.

I saw pascal, and thought THIS IS THE WAY! YEAH! It got better and better, but only two retail companies made it known they were selling it. One cheated the public, and lotus managed to sue the other to the brink.

I saw PERL and thought, this has some problems, but is nice. For WEB, this is the way. Well, they changed t, including creating a few NEW problems, and only really "solving" 2, tha weren't even valid problems, and PHP was born. WHO KNOWS?

Well, JAVA came around and everyone said THIS is the life! THIS will catch on! MULTIPLATFORM, ETC.... I laughed saying that they were nuts, it HAD to be slower, etc,...

For a few years there, it was neat sseeing my VINDICATION, as companies converted stuff to JAVA and several had to switch BACK, etc... MS tried to make it MS centric, and all but failed, but Java isn't even compatible with JAVA! THAT stupidity was something even I never imagined! Well, I DID about 5 years earlier send a nasty letter to ANSI, because THEY tried to destroy DIBOL! But I NEVER thought SUN would do that to THEMSELVES!

SO, will PHP even last another year? WHO KNOWS? Even BASIC is DEAD! And DON'T tell me you see Visual Basic in stores! In a very real way that isn't basic. A BASIC programmer would be LOST wit VB, and a VB programmer may be lost with BASIC.

It IS likely it will last another 5 years though, maybe more.
