Is YOUR Thanks Button Broke?

Hi Guys,

I am not getting at anyone in particular, in fact I occasionally do this myself...

You ask a question or see a good post in one of the threads and simply submit a reply with a really short one liner like:

Nice post, Thanks for the info.

Instead of typing a reply like this why not hit the thanks button which is present below each and every post on this forum.

Not only does this give the poster some added reputation/authority in the form of a registered thanks below their name, it also keeps the forum free of these short messages and leaves room for posters who are adding to the quality of the original post.

So next time you think about writing one of these short "thank you" replies why not hit the thanks button instead.

I'm not bothered by the short replies. But I think it's annoying how some people make it a point to ask others to click the "THANKS" button.

Take this guy for instance. See how he does it...

Some people think it's important to acquire lot's of "THANKS" on the forum. It's as if the "THANKS" can be redeemed for cash or prizes or something...

You and me both. There's even been a time or two I was going to thank someone for their post until I got to the end and they asked to be thanked. They didn't get one.

Point to ponder ... if you have to ask, are the thanks you get deserved?

Thank you are two of the most overused words in the English language.

When used appropriately, it can be deep and meaningful, but usually only worthless chat.

Sorry is another one.

They now normally mean very little, merely an acknowledgment.

Sorry, do not bother to thank me......

Mine is out of service at the moment and I have a service repairman coming out to look at it on Wednesday the 24th sometime between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and I must make sure that someone is here between those hours.

Meh. I don't use it that often. I think I've thanked like 6 posts during my time here, and almost always its been because I hit the "thanks" button instead of the "quote" button.

I guess I'm just a thankless soul.... lol

  Those words could do with being used a lot more in everyday life. A bit of courtesy can lift the spirit - even when it might be less than fully sincere. It's called social lubrication and it's a practice that seems to have fallen a little out of favor in these hectic, self-absorbed times.
  
  Next time you're out and about, try saying "thank you" with a smile whenever the opportunity arises and see the effect it often has not only on the recipient, but also on your own demeanor.

  You don't have enough posts yet. When you have enough posts the thank you button will appear by the Quick Reply button.

  Correct. It's nice to be appreciated, but to expect other forum members to behave as we want them to is, shall we say, a bit unrealistic. For example, what right do I have to expect anyone else here to do anything?
