No Internet For a Week ----The Horror

You never know how dependent you are on something until it is gone. I just arrived in France on the 30th of December for a University exchange. It took me until yesterday to get internet and it was the toughest week of my life. (mild sarcasm)

It wasn't just that I couldn't check this forum, no siree, it was that I was disconnected from everything at home. Worst of all was the 200+ emails I managed to rack up. Not speaking French didn't help much either.

So in my spare time I managed to watch the Dark Night 5 times and read a good old fashioned book.

And that is just a little tale of the horror I felt with no Internet. I am glad to be online again.

Welcome back and my deepest condolences to you for your week being 'out of it'.

I can't imagine the stress of being free of a ton of emails. Well I know catch-up is worse.

Anyway, glad everything is back to normal for you!

My heart rate went up just reading the title!

Last year we experienced a snowstorm so severe that it knocked out our phone lines for a week. I had work that had not been delivered and no way to get online.

That's when I bought my Windows-based smartphone - it was a lifesaver. Even with it, the threat of internet-lessness is still enough to give me the heebee geebees :-)

    Welcome back.

I could never go without Internet for more than a day. I would probably go to the library and use their Internet

I have just had the same problem. My wifi router decided that it would reduce its range to less than three feet and it needed recalibrating - after which, none of my computers could access the internet.

Six days and over 3,000 emails later, I am now back on line and playing catch up.

With my health problems, this six days has been an absolute nightmare and I have only just managed to read some great emails from family and friends celebrating my wedding aniversary.

p.s. I am not sure that the problem was as stated by the IT technician who sorted it - which made me realise just how much at their mercy we are.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
