I bought a WII for my wife at Christmas because she wanted a WII Fit to work out on. I didn't want to get one because I didn't want my son to spend all his time playing games. I don't like to buy these things because are lazy enough as it is. Little did I know my son likes to do the fittness things on this system and not so much the games. If you haven't tried this because of the fear of your children becoming brain dead you may want to re-think it. This is great when you can't get out because of the weather you can still run and do a lot more activities instead of vegging out in front of the idiot box. The system is expensive but, I think it's great for entertainment not only to watch but also to do. Does anyone else have one and do you feel it was worth the cost?

    Hi, Gary,

I don't like to buy these things because are lazy enough as it is.

Acknowledgement of a problem is the first aspect of removing it. Now all you need to do is discover why your laziness can be eased by an expensive toy when there is a whole world of free excitement and wonder right outside your door.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

My sister and my "newly" retired mom and dad just bought wii's! My DH and I and our 2 children went Friday to help my parents hook it up to their television. We laughed at their idea of "retirement exercise", but I'm not laughing anymore! We played several games of tennis and bowling and I was extremely sore the next day. I may just have to get myself one!

    Gary,
Actually the WII is the cheapest of the current batch of gaming systems.
    Cost is relative.
The WII was ranked as the system that was going to be the least popular of the new ones coming out a few years back and yet it's the one that is still in short supply.
As far as having it and using it,I do and I love it.

We have the Wii and Wii fit and love it! The exercises are great for kids...but they aren't going to make adults fitness masters

  • I recently had the opportunity to try one myself, and i really like the sports that they have on it like bowling, shooting, tennis, etc. Not that you are going to get a cardio workout from it, but it is fun to play with i don't have one, as i am busy occupied with other things, but i could see how they can become quite addicting.

I've had mine for about a year now and LOVE it! It really does build some muscle and 10 minutes of hula hoop or rhythm boxing will definitely break a sweat. I mainly only use it in the winter when the weather is too miserable to be outside.

Christie - you must've been on Santa's naughty list

I love my Wii and I think it is well worth the cost.

I can't help but get up and around when I play the games. I can't remember the last time I sat down to play (except for playing the drums on Guitar Hero of course).

Even if you're not using the Wii Fit I think it's a great way to get kids of their butts. My next purchase is probably going to be the Wii Fit, just can't find it anywhere at the moment. Had to settle for Mario Kart (which rocks!) :-)

We have had a WII for about six months but haven't bought WII Fit yet, sounds like it's a good investment though. We love playing bowling and the tennis really gets your heart rate up too. My husband loves Mario Kart most of all!!!

The system that I bought was from TOYS R US if the boxing kicked your butt try the WII FIT.The boxing kicked my butt also along with the Aerobics, Balance, Strength and yoga that the fit come with. I would rather go outside also but it is 18 degrees and we have 6 inches of snow. The snow is getting deeper and the temp is going lower. Some exercise is better than none at all, besides two hours of shoveling snow out of the driveway is enough exercise for any one person.

The WII Fit is an accessorry you buy to use with the WII,it's not the actual WII.

I think you can get it for around $250 or less. It's one of the least expensive, if not the least expensive game console out there.

That price will get you the console, 1 remote and Wii Sports.

LOL @ the yelling. My husband played the soccer balance game on the fit last night, and it said something like.. "Hi Timo! I haven't seen you in 224 Days!" ... OF COURSE I remember your name... It's Sherice, right?"

    LOL

We have the wii, we don't have wii fit yet, but what i like is that all the games keeps the kids and us adults moving. So out of the 3 i do prefer it so the kids arent just loafing on the couch they are actually moving around.
