Have You Ever Seen A Ghost?

I haven't seen any ghosts.

I swear I hear ghosts in my parents house. I am one person who doesn't scare easily. But, I know that when everyone's out the house, I hear strange noise.

Just the other day, while I was in the house by myself, I was upstairs working on the computer. My room is right next to the stair well. I could have sworn I heard someone dragging the chairs across the hard wood floors downstairs. Well, the only other person in the house was my Grandma and she can't move so I know it wasn't her.

One day, my mother was in her bed knitting. Both dogs were in her room at the time. She heard footsteps stumping up the stairs. The dogs went bazerk! The footsteps got to the top of the stairs and stopped. She said, the ghosts must have came to the wrong house and left.

Weird. I have so many stories, I could go all night. But, I won't bore you.

Sure there are "ghosts" - nothing anti-christian about believing in ghosts. There's a lot of explanations for them, and as far as your gospels they kind of give indication that some of the dead will just be wandering around til the trumpets blow anyhow - it's called Rapture.

Anyhow - if you want to get some good interactions with ghosts, old mining towns are loaded with them. There could be a lot of reasons for that. Mining was one hell of a hard life, so there's a lot of negative energy from the past trapped in those places. There is also a lot of quartz crystal in many mining areas and quartz retains energy "memory" so well that it is used in the construction of computers. I'm sure it can be accidentally tapped and replay the past events somehow - something like the pressure that allowed the Indians to make those "lightning" rattles.

We had a ghost in Empire - just across St. Mary's glacier from Central City in Colorado. It was a buro. You never would see him, but could hear his hoofbeats and the equipment clanking on his back. He would walk down from the mines around dusk and walk down main street, turn and walk a couple of blocks to the river where he would stop - just outside of the graveyard. There was also a ghost in the Golden Rose Hotel annex in Central City. It would open windows, turn on water, and steal guests belongings until they were ready to leave. We would have people come over to the office from the Annex and tell us there was a fight in the next room - people destroying the place. After telling them "No, nothing is going on" a few times, you'd have to take the key and open the room for them to see nothing was out of order. Some people would get off on it and really enjoy it - others would get beaming scared and make us relocate them to the main building.
Molly's was exorcised after gaming was reinstated because the ghost was causing major problems. A local restaurant also had a problem with flying knives and utensils in the kitchen.

One Halloween I did an interview with a pro in audio hauntings and he had recorded some very freaky stuff that there was no way to fake. Others have taken photos and have orbs show in them that weren't there.

There's a lot more in heaven and earth than we'll ever understand.

I personaly havn't seen a ghost. But my girlfriend swears she did. We were coming home from vegas to montana by car and stoped in a hotel in oregon. We got the only room available as it was 1am when we got there. The next morning she had all kinds of weird feelings and was saying she saw a ghost last night. I just kind of brushed it off. When we got home she looked the hotel up on the internet and what do you know. The exact room we stayed in turned out to be haunted. Many people claimed to see ghost in that same room. I was sleeping, but i'm sure she must have seen the ghost. The hotel was the gyser grand in oregon. Check it out.

I have a ghost in our cottage, and in our garden too. I have six guitars in my office and it is not unusual to hear them being plucked.

Sure when you are dead you are technically 'snuffed out' but, dimensions are all around us.

On a youtube I did last year, we did one number and after replaying it we all noticed that additional guitar lead was on the 'live' recording. The finger placements were different to the notes being played. So my ghost is into music.

Personal experience is the ultimate proof, especially in the spiritual realm. I'm not talking about imagination or hallucination. A real spiritual experience changes everything. Once it happens to you, no one can ever convince you that it's not real.

Science has a long way to go. If it didn't, we would no longer have any need for scientists or experiments.

I've had many spiritual experiences, but only one time did I have an experience with a tramp soul. It opened kitchen cabinets and slid the dishes. The chandelier wasn't moving, so we quickly determined that it wasn't an earthquake.

My wife could see it as a black shadow. I couldn't see it at all, but I could feel it. The sensations made me feel nauseous. It was around for less than a day.

Several years ago, I went to an event with a lady friend, where five famous authors were speaking. They all had a new book to promote. One of the speakers was Donald Walters, also known as Swami Kriyananda.

When he came out on the stage he was wearing a white suit. The background on the stage was dark blue. Of course, it was well lighted.

All of a sudden, I could see his aura. It was a beautiful bright gold. It came to a point at the top of his head, giving the impression of a crown. Later, I read a passage about the Dali Lama, which stated that saints have an aura that looks like a golden flame.

As he was speaking, I could see two black shadowy images moving around behind him. I looked all around to see if something was causing these shadows. There wasn't.

Apparently, my distraction was evident, as my friend said, "What's going on with you?" I asked her if she could see his aura. Her answer was no. It was so bright and vivid for me, that it was a little difficult to accept that I was the only one seeing it. But, let me tell you, no idiot on the face of the earth could ever convince me it was not real.

I haven't seen any ghosts, but I believe that it is real.

I knew it would not be long before religion and evolution came into this topic.

Let's leave religion out of it because, like evolution, it is based upon man made premises drawn from what can, apparently, be observed.

The theory of evolution DOES NOT WORK! Think about it very carefully and you will understand why this is so. If you can't think outside of someone else's theory (a supposition or series of ideas to explain specific phenomena) this is not a subject for you.

My own experience with 'ghosts' (a catch all term, admittedly) is very extensive. For several years I was an in patient on a cancer ward and it was not unknown for patients who were totally immobile to 'visit' friends on the ward just before death.

My most recent experience was about a year ago after the death of a much loved podenco (Abbie). About two days after she died I saw her walk from the bathroom (like many dogs, she had mastered the art of drinking from the toilet) and into the kitchen.

Normally I would have accepted that I was imagining the sight since I have problems in that area but my surviving dog, Scamp, must have also seen the 'ghost' because she gave her usual bark of welcome and spent over half an hour frantically trying to find her.

For many people who own and relate to their dogs, a common question is "What is it that they see when they stop and look in a fixed direction but are not sniffing the air?". I believe that, until we know for certain, we would be foolish to ignore anything that indicates something of which we are unaware and might be uncomfortable about if we were (would you ever get undressed again if you knew ghosts could watch you?).

Yes, I actually have had several experiences with what people would call ghosts. From the time I was a child there have been unusual happenings around me. I currently live in a 175 yr. old house that has two ghosts -- a man and a woman. When the man gets starts tromping back and forth and gets too noisy (which is gauged by him scaring my cats) I yell at him to pick up the broom and sweep and he immediately disappears...usually for about two weeks.

I don't know if these are "living" entities or whether they're just displaced energy.

On the other hand, I seriously believe in demon and evil creatures and they scare the bejezus out of me.

Science will NEVER will able to explain why human beings are self-conscious i.e. aware of themselves. Afterall, why can't we be just like a programmable robot?

As far as ghosts are concerned, I am not sure whether they are actually entities of people who have lived before. But there have been so many sightings by reputable people that I see no reason to disbelief them.

To see a ghost it is necessary to have eyes.

I have one that is serviceable and I actually used it to view the 'proof' video for evolution - and I am still convinced that the theory does not work.

Natural selection IS NOT evolution just as closing your eyes does not cause any noise that you hear to be attributable to ghosts because you can't see the cause.

Evolution cannot answer the question of which came first - the chicken or the egg. We all know that chickens hatch from eggs but we also know that eggs come from chickens.

Going back to the basic initial suspected life form - a single celled creature, we have to ask why it had to develop into something else.

If you consider an amoeba, a single celled animal, it is virtually immortal. It can be killed if something (another amoeba) eats it but it will not die if the water in which it lives dries up. The amoeba is a very clever single celled creature and, when there are indications that its home pond is going to be untenable, it creates an impermeable membrane around itself and will blow about on the wind until it finds itself, once again, in water.

Evolution cannot explain how this ability developed - after all, amoebae reproduce assexually so that each 'new' pair is two identical copies of the original single amoeba.

How did this tiny creature acquire such a life saving ability? How did this tiny creature, lacking significantly in sensory organs, learn to predict when the pond in which it lived was going to dry up? When did it learn to substitute an impermeable membrane for the semi-permeable membrane which is its normal form? It seems obvious to me that either the amoeba always had the abilities - or there is something that we do not understand at work.

Maybe we, like amoebae, have a self protective process by which we create a type of membrane around our living essence just before our own pond dries up which can then float around until it finds a habitat that it can exist in? Could this be what ghosts are?

How about this theory.There are many parallel lives being led.What we call a ghost is someone from another parallel life briefly visiting this life.We are all alive or dead whichever way you see it.We leave this life and enter another parallel life.What we do in this life is so practical that we believe it is the only parallel.It is only an illusion and lessons are learnt so we can move up to the next life.

I saw a ghost. Both my mum and dad saw the same ghost at the same time.

I was 11 and lived with my parents next to my uncle's property. He had been away for a week. It was Tuesday, me and my parents had been out for the day and had just returned home. As my dad started to open the front gate, we all noticed my uncle had also returned home and was standing at his front gate. He waved, we waved.

Later that evening, his daughter telephoned to let us know that he had passed away the previous Sunday.

For any of us to say one way or the other takes great assumptions. Because we do not have enough data to say for sure one way or the other. Atheist seemingly assume that we know everything about the universe, or they just assume that if we do find out everything about the universe then we will find that there is no god/spirits/higher forms of life/intelligence (and it is most likely impossible for us to know everything seeing as we cannot observe data from higher dimensions. Maybe in the future? but will we survive that long? doubtful)... Those who believe in god and such are also assumptuous because they believe that if we began to know everything about the universe that we would find a god. Many of them also have blind faith which assumes that there is a god without even bothering to understand how or why.

But when it comes down to it the only thing we know about this is that we don't know. For either of these conflicting opinions it takes faith of some sort. This is why if you want to be technical and unassuming about religion you can only be agnostic. Agnosticism is the only non assuming viewpoint. It requires no faith in anything. However this belief usually means you do believe that one of them is correct and one is not... or perhaps both are correct in different universes.

I personally believe in god... Mainly because I am not afraid to take a guess based on what I know... I have gone through college for my bachelors in physics. I do know a fair amount about physics and the universe. Science is one of my passions. I will admit I do assume things, and I have no proof.. But I feel the things that we are beginning to learn about out universe make it harder for me to personally believe that what we see is the supreme of anything by any means at all.

Why do I choose to assume there is a god? Well there are 11 maybe 12 known dimensions in the universe. This in the science community has generally become accepted as true. Mathematics point to these dimension and we know that we only observe 3 and something like a half of them. We observe and live in the height, width, and depth dimensions. We also observe a piece of the 4th dimension, time! but only a piece because we only see it in cross sections one frame at a time in forward motion. If we were fully 4 dimensional you would see yourself as a big elongated snake timeline like object that stretches from birth to death and loops all around everywhere you have gone in your life. Sound pretty far out? Well that is only the beginning of things! there are 7 more dimensions that we know about! Trying to fully comprehend these higher dimensions is very hard, and to understand what they 'look' like or how they work is is something like a german shepard trying to understand SEO and PPC . It litterally requires us to think of infinity squared to understand... an infinite infinity! O_o

Now we humans are fully constructed from 3 dimensional atoms set in forward motion through time (the 4th dimension). We are constructed out of pretty primative materials along with the rest of out observable universe. Just as us 3d beings are much MUCH MUCH superior than 2 dimensional beings(which could not live because they have no depth), a higher dimensional being would be as much superior to us as we are to cartoons! Perhaps the higher dimensions are void.... void of anything at all... well that to me would be like saying that lifeforms on earth are only creatures in the universe. And that sounds ridiculous to most scientist, especially knowing that the universe goes on forever for our knowledge and purposes. So I like to take the sides with the believers in god and throw my bet on that. How much confidence you have in your gamble is just what determines how devout you are.

I have no proof, I have no data, so thus its not science. It's only pseudoscience. But that does not mean it's wrong... nor does it mean it's right... So should we kill each other over it? Seems thats what is happening and has been happening for a long time now. It's a shame. I just know the universe is a pretty big place for little microbes like us to try to understand. It seems to me we are looking for a big black wall with a sign on it saying "end of universe turn back" and I just don't think we will ever find it. And if we ever do we will just ask whats behind it and then kill each other over our guesses.

Even if ghosts, spirits, god etc do exist it is still stupid to believe so since NO EVIDENCE EXISTS that support these claims. Maybe they do exist, maybe they don't, but as long as there is no evidence (and no, videos, images, "personal experiences", are not evidence) it is only silly to assume something like that.

No. Nobody has nor will they ever. Many have claimed to see one but in reality there never has been or will there ever be any ghosts. They are not real, pure and simple. There are also many people who claim to have seen UFO's too and believe that they are controlled by some civilisation other than Human i.e. alien. LOL at people who believe such claptrap.

If you must look at all things in a logical manner, then there is no for reason for humans or any high intellegence lifeforms to exist, let alone lifeforms who are aware of itself. In fact, there is no reason for any life to exist, or for that matter the universe itself.

I suppose but i'm not quite sure. When I was eleven years old I saw my father at the school at around 4:00 in the afternoon as I got ready to go home. The thing was, my father was already bedridden and was dying of cancer at that time. I ignored it and thought I was probably just imagining things until on my way home as I crossed the street I saw him again, this time I got startled and almost got run over by a car. Good thing I was walking home with a friend who pulled me to the side of the street. When I finally got home I heard news that my father had passed away that afternoon. It sounds pretty creepy but I think that it was all just a coincidence, i guess.

My mother has told me stories regarding my grandfather who apparently owes his life to a ghost or something. My grandparents from my moms side are both alive and well in Greece right now, but around 15 or so years ago my Grandfathers Tractor rolled back into a ditch and landed ontop of him. Now apperantly what had happened was that he was pinned under the tractor for about 2 hours, when some one from the village my grandparents live in near a city called Pili in Trikala, Greece was told by what he claims was his dead brother that someone had an accident in the fields and needed urgent help. The guy raced over in his pick up truck and rescued my Grandfather from underneath the upturned tractor all thanks to this ghost. Now, the thing is my mom is really superstitious and believes in all this ghost stuff and whatnot, and may have led to her slightly exagerating the story, but its still pretty interesting if it was really what had happened.

You can't have it both ways. It is either a fact OR it is the best explanation - it can't be both.

The theory of evolution is like a net - Thousands of square yards of empty space joined together by a few feet of string. Even the few feet of string is of dubious quality.

I do agree with you, though, that the thousands of square yards of empty space do not mean that a god was involved - simply that something we do not understand was at work.

I couldn't resist jumping into this discussion - I have always known that ghosts existed and here in rural NZ there are very few places I have lived where we have not had ghostly boarders too. I saw my first ghost at aged five and basically never stopped after that time.

I love the thought of ghosts as an illustration of where our life force goes after we pass on - I also love the thought that I may be able to keep an eye on my loved ones when I pass - kind of a comforting thought when you hit grandma status

I even wrote two books on the topic which have been well received - I have no patience for those silly tv programs about ghost hunters as I feel they feed each other into a mass hysteria which is positively childish (in my opinion only of course I know these programs have a huge following.)

Why we exist and where we go (if anywhere) after death is something I don't think we were ever meant to truly understand - something about it being beyond our comprehension I think; but dismissing something that does not fit within our existing scientific parameters is wrong in my opinion as there is no indication yet of where our science might lead us in the future. People thought Gallileo was wrong once too

We're all spirits (energy) living in a human body - so, when our body dies, our spirit doesn't die, it still lives . . . is that what we humans call "ghosts"? If so, of course ghosts - spirits - are real and with us! I haven't "seen" one though, and wonder if they'd be more friendly than some humans I know :-)

Quantum physics has proven what mystics (and Albert Einstein) believed years ago - it's all about energy. Nothing more, nothing less. Just because a person doesn't believe they have a spirit, doesn't make it so.

Years ago, we didn't have the scientific explanation that quantum physics provides for us now . . . but that didn't mean that the facts later explained by quantum physics weren't true. And it doesn't mean that science won't "discover" more information that will further explain the universe in the future.

Nothing has ever changed, and it's sad that some individuals only believe in what science proves to be true.

OK, so now scientists have proven that we are energy (by the explanation of quantum physics) and that what we label as "ghosts" are real.

so, it's up to each one of us to decide whether or not we want to believe in what quantum physics tells us, or if we want to believe in an even higher truth that is more expansive than the current science of quantum physics.

Before you make your decision, you might want to remember that "science" once "proved" that the earth was flat!

Oh, really . . .

Let me enlighten you a bit about the "best explanation" you mentioned above, Andrew Mcnaught. It seems your "science" is a bit outdated. If you look into current research - not the children's textbooks that were written with a bias and not backed by science - you'll find many current scientific facts that debunk the theory that evolution in a "fact". You'll also discover that current research even proves that dinosaurs existed 2,000 years ago, not billions of years ago - as science once thought was "fact".

I could go on and on . . . but I think it would be more beneficial if you did the research yourself - I hope you do - because then you might discover that "science" is in the eyes of the beholder. Science attempts to explain what we humans observe, and it always contains a human perspective because the observer is human . . . and therefore the data is subject to human interpretation . . . sometimes accurate, and sometimes inaccurate.

Einstein obviously believed in God.

On another note: I don't know of any university that does not teach the theory of relativity as being related to energy . . . . the theory itself says: Energy = m csquared ( I couldn't type that correctly, but I'm sure you know the mathematics of the theory)

So, who among us can say "ghosts" are not real? According to Einstein, we don't know everything yet . . . it's still being revealed to us.

Since Einstein was a genius, I think I'm going to go with his theories instead of thinking science knows it all, and there will be no new discoveries in store in the future. Seems to be some confusion here . . . Einstein said he believed in God - as indicated by numerous quotes . . . and he even defined his definition of God . . . so, what's the problem?

If someone believes differently than Einstein, ok, that's their right. But quotes from Einstein clearly use the word "God" and clearly state that he was interested in "God's thoughts". I'm not one to put words into someone else's mouth, and I think Einstein was smart enough to know what his words meant, so I'm going with believing Einstein's words - not someone else's interpretation of them.

Einstein believed we don't know everything, some people on this forum believe we already know it all . . . maybe we have some geniuses here that are smarter than Einstein? If we do, great! But, until proven, I'd rather read Einstein's words than read into them.

I don't get it - why do some people have such a hard time believing that something they cannot see isn't real - yet they believe in electricity, radio waves, wireless communication, etc.? All concepts that would have been thought to be outrageous back when Newton was alive. It's a puzzle . . .

In my country there are people who are called "annointed ones" and who are elders who apparently have the ability to commune with the dead. I've seen a couple of documentaries about these people who people hire to talk to their dead loved ones, they can be downright creepy and accurate too.

Well I have never seen anything but my mother told me about what happened to her once.

She and one of her friends were driving home and they saw an old family friend while passing through town. When they got home they found out that the old family friend they had just seen had been dead for several hours.

I myself have never had anything happen to me. But I believe in ghosts. I don't believe that God made earth in 7 days. But I certainly don't see why a person can't leave part of themselves around. Energy isn't created or destroyed. Only transferred.

There is no proof that anyone of us will reach our goals to make millions or whatever it might be but you keep aiming for it all the same right ???

With that in mind just because there is no proof that there is an afterlife doesn't mean there isn't one...

We bought out house back in 1996. The house was built in 1910. The second owners died in the house. The lady died in what is now our 2nd bedroom, the husband died out on the patio. We have had numerous sightings and feelings of ghosts. My wife has experienced a feeling of someone sitting on the edge of the bed. She has asked me if I came into the bedroom the night before while she was sleeping (she goes to bed much earlier than I). When I tell her no, that I was in the office very late. She says she felt someone sit on the edge of the bed and that she heard someone walking in the room.

One day, I came home from work for lunch and as I came into the back door, I saw someone going into the room where the lady had died. The hair on the back of my neck stood straight up. I thought there was someone in the house. I quickly ran to the spot where I last saw the person, and then into the front of the house. Nobody was there and the front was all locked up like it should be.

Our cat has noticed things as well. She would be laying on the floor asleep and would wake up suddenly and stare at a certain spot like she was watching somebody or something.

We haven't had any spottings of anything in the last few years. I guess whoever it was is satisfied that we are taking care of the house.

I will never beleive their existance until i witness seeing one.
