hi, quick question

I recieved an infraction from aother warrior stating a signature infraction.

As fas as I can see as long as it is your own website that you are promting there should not be a problem.

Can anyone else explain this to me thanks.

I don't know what link you had when you got the infraction, but right now the domain name you list in your signature doesn't match the site it links to, so if it's the same maybe you were infracted for being deceptive.

    Just a guess.

Why don't you just ask the person instead of starting a thread about it?

    Thanks dennis,

I just checked my link and it definitly goes to my own site gamblersinsight.com which I created myself.

I wish I could contact the fellow warrior who put up this infraction but i have not made enough posts to email him

I have no idea but I've sent him a PM pointing him to this thread. Having not seen the original signature, I don't know what was wrong with it.

That's the site your link text read, but when I put my cursor on the link it the link pointed to a golf domain. I didn't follow the link to see which site it actually went to, so if the golf site had a redirect to the gambling site I wouldn't have known it ... but if it did that might be another reason you were flagged. People have tried using a redirect link to hide an affiliate link before. Not saying you were, just saying that could be another potential problem.

Thanks tina, but somehow my signature has been removed i'm guessing that the forum does that when they recieve an infraction report.

I did however comment on someone elses post asking about paid traffic which i believed was relevant to the post saving starting a new thread.

I recieved the infraction with a message saying i should start my own thread but under signature infraction.

I am somewhat confused as im fairly new to the forum.

    thanks for the help guys

Thanks dennis that is strange to say the least, I have no redirects on and do not own a golf site except my blogspot and i have only added the gambling site to my signature

Nope, the mods don't even SEE infractions unless they go looking for it. They only see if someone reports your post or if they happen to see the post themselves.

I recieved the infraction with a message saying i should start my own thread but under signature infraction. Then they just checked the wrong box, that's all. I see people do that a lot, for some reason.

I'm guessing that there was some sort of issue earlier with your signature going awry. Try adding it back through your user CP.

If it won't let you add a signature, then you will have to speak to a mod or the Help Desk as that means it was disabled. That rarely happens unless you've been warned for rule breaking a few times, though, so it's likely that you'll be able to create a new signture.

Don't panic as infractions won't cause lightning to course through the sky at your head... lol. They actually mean very little, other than a quick poke to say head's up on something the person thinks you're doing wrong.

As to the thread you posted in, the person must have felt you were hijacking the thread, which if you asked about something unrelated to the OP, then you probably were. Just go start your own thread instead.

Oh, and your link works fine now, at least for me. Not sure what happened earlier.

I didn't click the link and your signature is gone so I have no way of telling you what the URL is now. Maybe Jim (Roaddog) visited the site and can retrieve the web address from his browser history.

Do you own a golf site? If not maybe someone hacked your WF account. You might want to change passwords.

Edit: Jim, I see you already did what I suggested and beat me to the post. You're either too fast or I'm too slow. Either way, :p.

Rich- I gave you the infraction.

The reason had nothing to do with your signature. It is because you made a post on a thread that you did not start and went completely off-topic. You even admitted you were hijacking the thread in your post. Hijacking threads is not useful, is rude to the OP of that thread who had questions he wanted answered, and most importantly it's against the rules.

Do you have any other questions?

EDIT: I also just checked for the post of yours which got the infraction, and it had been deleted. Obviously another member reported that post. Again, we all have to play by the rules here, and hijacking threads is not cool.

Thanks, I think i will change the password just in case, im just curious how they managed to get my signature to pint to a golf site.

I used to have a golf site but it was not getting any visitors so it was shut down two months ago the only golf related site I have now is on blogger but i definitely did not put that on here.

Thanks for your reply luke, I sincerely apologise for what i did but I did feel that asking for the cheapest solution for paid traffic was relevant to the thread as that is what it was about and it may have also helped the person that strated the thread.

Not sure why you had to put up an infraction though you could have just put a post up asking me to remove it, it would have been much friendlier, but thanks to you I have found that my signature had somehow been hacked so thankyou sincerely and ill be sure not to hijack others posts even if i feel my point is relevant.
