I have been marketing online for quite a while now-about 6 years. I use wordpress blogs for most of my websites to keep content current while having the search engine spiders constantly on my sites to increase my SEO. Along the way I have used a numerous amount of different plugins. Through my experience the creators of these plugins like to slide their business URL into the plugin which most users will never see. So, the result is, their business is being promoted. If you have any thoughts about the plugins please post here. I myself use only 3 now and have discontinued any type of SEO plugin.

You are right on cue with this one Steven. I doubt that many people who use WordPress Plugins, and yes even the paid templates, are aware of the links that are present.
I think many are not aware about it or they are afraid to make changes! Some even threat it with copy rights or legal step when they make changes by taking the creator name or links off. There explanation is that for that reason the plug-ins are free.

    Hi Steve

You Know I had this very conversation the other day about the so called Free plugins. While I do appreciate those plugins, I am starting to sense this is nothing more than double talk, that you need this plugin and that plugin or your site won't work properly.

The fact of the matter, less is more in reality. With less junk on your site and in behind the back office, your sites performance should actually improve. In fact, this should help with how many resources are being used on your hosting account. I have gone away from fancy stuff. I prefer a clean site, without the bells and whistles in fact. I started removing some of the plugins last night.

    Cheers

The less plugins you have, the faster the load time for your site and the site also becomes more search engine friendly. I used to use the all in one seo pack only to find out that pack was promoting someone else. When I ran the page through google webmaster tools, the designer of that plugins site came up as an incoming link. It also showed the same on alexa.com. It is now my understanding that you do not need any meta keywords in the html code. The only thing that is needed is title tag and meta description to get ranked on google. The keywords will be the permalink for each post (if posting manually to your WP blog) or the post title. That is all you need for effective SEO.

By the way, can you really control something that you give away for free? Does someone really know what is the legal right for free stuff?

Yes we need tools for Online Marketing, but in the same time you must control who you invite into your business or you can fast lose your business and not even knowing it

A majority of the time people tend to over-think the simple process called search engine optimization. By trying to overload their WP blog with so much junk it actually hurts their efforts to be effective.

A plugin is as useful as how much its functionality is required. Sure, if it is not raining, rain boots would just weigh you down.

SEO is a mystery to me. To get the the crux of it, I am experimenting on different sites to see which and whose methods work best. I suspect simply having a quality site with original articles and useful information and doing no SEO whatsoever, apart from that which wordpress already does, would get the best results.
