NBC Universal Threatens Partners That They Need To Sign 'Grassroots' Support Of SOPA/PIPA Or It Might Have To Drop Them | Techdirt

NBC is treading on THIN ICE! Before the 1980s, to compete was an expensive proposition. It could maybe cost tens of thousands of dollars. In the 80s it dropped a LOT! In the 90s, it dropped MORE! NOW, in some cases, it isn't even PENNIES! A person could wakeup at 8am, create a nice newsletter, translate it into several languages, create a nice news broadcast, and send it all over the planet by lunch! Things that only DISNEY used to do once a week some people are doing like every day!

HELL, you want 12 track recording? In the 80s, it was EXPENSIVE! TODAY you could do 20, maybe even 50 track recording on FREE open source software!

You would think that these large organizations would forget about this sort of thing. Crooks DON'T obey the law ANYWAY!

Everything is getting sad with the money giants these days. I'm wondering what toxin is so prevalent in the environments of the super rich that it has made them loco. It's like watching the fall of the Roman Empire in real life - except with a different poison from lead pipes.

Bottom line is that someone just plain needs to have some sense bitch slapped into them. Nothing else seems to work.

Greed often feeds on itself, like a hunger. And, DESPITE WHAT THE OFFICIAL LINE IS, the bully mentality has been NOURISHED for DECADES! HOW could it continue, and what would be the purpose, without GREED!? It is ALSO a major reason for theft. Oh SURE, there are "les miserables" types of theft, where a person steals a minor thing out of real and immediate need, but that really IS only a small fraction of theft. Besides, didn't "Jean Valjean" pay everything back? He tried to be an upstanding member of society. And who NEEDS a TV set or radio, etc.... Heck, whether a poor burglar or some rich guy at the top, one of the major problems people have is the bully mentality.

Anyway, this is why filthy rice guys may become multibillionares and continue for decades, and why burglars may continue to steal even after they have millions in the bank.

So I doubt it is due to any toxin. Besides, I am unaffected, despite what some on this board may feel they perceive.

Steve - blaming it on toxins is actually just my humor. What I'm not kidding about is that it's like watching the fall of the Roman Empire.

The super wealthy have become so greedy that they are soon to become an extinct faction. What the rich and powerful have failed to notice throughout history is that nobody gives a rats patoot if they are rich as hell or not until their greed becomes so insane that it starts making life difficult for everyone else. Then the masses turn on them and they lose everything....very often including their very lives.

Gee I wish it really was as simple as "what's in their water" -- at least we'd be able to fix that one easily, eh?

You've just described the way things have been since time untold. Everything has a cycle, including empires, wealth, climate, you name it. Watched an interesting show recently about how many times the earth went through mass extinctions (more than I thought).

Thinking anyone can stop these cycles is about as crazy as those Uber wealthy people needing to destroy things or people for even MORE wealth. Take down the current set of corrupt, evil rich and others will quickly take their places - kinda like those drug kingpins

But sometimes it IS very interesting watching what unfolds...

Mike - it's called a bad mix of perceived intelligence, animal instinct, psychology (ego/id), and the noun based language system we've adopted which causes us to look at the world in an operator/tool system rather than the verb based languages of the Natives which gave a mindset of how we flow with the world. Got us all messed up. We're just not the creatures we think we are.
