Why doesn't anyone talk about this end of the world prediction?

I was wondering why nobody talks about this end of the world prediction.

It doesn't leave much room for interpretation.

According to the prophecy, we have only have one more pope before the end of the world, and the current popes is rumored to be not in the best of health.

Nostradamus seems to have played out in the 60's and 70's

They Mayan Calendar is getting way too much media coverage, almost as much as Tebow.

Do you think this one can renew the mass hysteria? I'm thinking probably not.

If the next pope chooses the name "Peter," it might make wonder just a bit, though.

    It gets complicated and I'm not sure this forum is the place for it. I can go into weather complications being evident, UFO evidence, NWO evidence, prophesy, Nostradamus, polar shifts, axis changes, solar flares, HAARP, UN Agenda 21, (a depopulation agenda under the guise of sustainable development), etc. but most people either won't believe me or don't want to think about it. Facebook and there are other forums available for these discussions. What we should be discussing more fully in this forum is Net Neutrality as it does tie in with the other stuff as well.

    You know, variations of a word fo rock are ALSO names translated to peter, in various languages. The popes claim to be descended from peter who, jesus once said, "upon this rock I will build my church".(That is the accepted translation!) SO, even if his meaning were EXACTLY what catholics claim, it is still open to interpretation. Did he say peter, or rock? Did he mean a particular case, or for all? Did he mean NOW, or eternity?

    Still, if a pope calls himself peter, it is understandable.

    As for nostradamus, there are LOTS of lies about him, and rules have changed. Remember that spam that went across the planet after 9/11? They tied together phrases from like 5 different verses, twisted the wording a bit and BANG, nostradamus predicted it EXACTLY! Well, it IS interesting, and a coincidence, but NOWHERE near as close as that spam stated.

    I can only speak for myself when I say this, but - because its a bunch of BS. LOL

    I'm so tired of hearing about how "the end is near" - I mean really, who cares???

    If the world DOES end in 2012, what can we gonna do about it? NOTHING.. So there is no point in living in fear. It happens, it doesnt happen.. either way it doesnt bother me. No point worrying about things you can't change.

    Just look at that moron Harold Camping..

    To be honest, I don't understand how he was never charged with a criminal offense. If I had tried to do what he did, I'd have been cited for attempting to induce panic.

    Old people should be no different. They should have to abide by the same laws as everybody else. Then to make it worse, his followers threw away their life savings.. How he hasn't at least been SUED is beyond me.

      Can you really protect people who follow someone like that? Should you try?

      2011 - he was wrong....

      So why so much more attention in 2011? Can you say "the internet"???

        I actually discovered something recently that made me post what I did. I am aware it is not original but I have been trying to convince myself that I am running the world with my thoughts.

        I have found this actually has me thinking more positively because everytime I have a negative thought about something or someone in my life, I simply tell myself, "not in my world".

          Everything that happened after that was in "purgatory"

    I don't know much about the Catholic faith details - but it seems the Pope would be just another piece of the End Days mythology, just like the 4 horsemen. It would seem odd for a Pope to take the name of an end of the world signal.

    Steve - interesting take on the language - especially since there is so much rattle about being taken down by an asteroid. In astronomy classes we were informed that the world would eventually be engulfed in the sun when it expanded in it's death throes. Stars of our sun's mass super-nova when they die. That would fit any "death by fire" prophecies, even if the time frame is about 100 million years off.

    With the pressing issue of the population surpassing carrying capacity at a time we appear to be moving out of the interglacial period, I'm really not sure why people need mythology to get scared about things. Hardcore science is saying we are in major trouble yet nobody pays attention to that. Of course, only 2/3 of the population will succumb in an ice age, but that's enough that you'd think people would start to look seriously at birth control and sustainability instead of preparing "spiritually" for getting zapped. Good grief we're a stupid life form.

      Well the four horsemen are clearly NOT horsemen at all. They merely define and drive the horses and imagery such that NONE of that is ANYTHING but a representation! The representation is CLEARLY illustrated by the horsemen and what they say. They are things like inflation, famine, and war. So yeah, NO pope would name themselves after that.

      Yeah, it is SICK! In the BEGINNING this could have been PARADISE! SO many problems are cause by PEOPLE! And talking about imagery, and symbolism, the FORBIDDEN tree that judeo christian religion says STARTED this whole thing is called "THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE, of good and evil". What if THAT were merely symbolic! When man found out about evil, evil started and things turned. The garden of eden, based on descriptions in the bible, widely known facts and landmarks surviving TO THIS DAY, and newly found evidence, was a REAL place, ON THIS PLANET, apparently about where everyone thought things started, etc... about half of it is under water, and the other half is now in a very politically and religiously unstable area.

      Genesis 2:10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin[d] and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.[e] 14 The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
      That is about as descriptive as any text can be and still handle the cultural and linguistic changes! Anyway, such an area WOULD be fertile and could be considered paradise. But so many are like that weirdo on startrek that led a group all over to find a PLANET named eden.

      And YEAH, people want to do the impossible and get rid of poverty, famine, and disease, while SIMULTANEOUSLY increasing the causes of those problems. HEY, relieve the causes, and maybe the problems will go away! It could take generations, but we could start seeing results in only a couple decades! If we go the OTHER way, the problem could become FAR worse in just a couple years. IMAGINE, we could probably increase the planets population over 20% a year!

      IMAGINE, 2015 having DOUBLE the population of 2011(just FOUR years)!
      IMAGINE, 2017 having TRIPLE the population of 2011, that is SIX years, or TWICE as fast!
      IMAGINE, 2019 having OVER FOUR TIMES as many.

      This may sound incredible, but if you look at the statistics, even a 30% increase(with one kid per couple) isn't far out of line. So a 15% increase almost seems LIKELY! I guss we should be HAPPY that china has a limit that helps offset those that have far MORE than 1 kid per couple.

      More people means more resources are needed, and more waste will be generated. That means famine, pestilence, war, poverty, etc...

      A BOAT is sinking quickly!

      MY solution? Temporarily patch the boat and have EVERY able person work to get rid of the water. If needed, throw out unneeded stuff, and get to land ASAP! If you need to save more people, come back later and pick up as many as reasonably possible. Even the flight attendants, in planes, say "PUT ON ***YOUR*** mask first before helping others"! After all, if YOU can help others, does it help if you die after getting another half way there? If you put 40 people in a boat rated for 10, does it help if it then SINKS!?!?

      The STANDARD solution? Drill holes in the boat to let the water out. Have only certain people work to get rid of the water. Pick up people EVEN as it gets uncomfortable, but DON'T get rid of games, etc... Try to get an agreement as to which way to paddle. It may even be the longest distance.

      SERIOUSLY, we ARE doing #2! Getting rid of agricultural land, having tons of kids, using corn for ethanol, etc... ALL amount to drilling holes in the boat. All the related politics is the "trying to get an agreement". HECK, we won't even get rid of cable in prisons. You can see how it all matches up. OHIWICSM! I have a VERY interesting comment to make but, ALAS!

      Exactly...I'm glad someone said it..

      Seems there is a lot of espousing without actually reading these days.

      I have probably been thru at least five translations...there were predictions, but no timeline..


      Being Irish Catholic....Yea I said it,...

      This I heard before, but was always told it was more geared toward the end of the Church, than the world...

      But who knows..I've been hearing about the end of the world since I first came to this country in the late 60's...

      Well, some people do a lot of ****WEIRD**** things to come up with an end date. I don't think they CARE if it is right. One of the early tricks was cking a date FAR into the future.

      The Bible is worded such that it effectively said THEY were in the end times, but the end could be thousands of years into the future. It was ALSO based on something unlikely to happen any time soon. TODAY, even disregarding the one wall, such a feat is DAUNTING.

      Anyway, the mayan calendar was LONG, satisfying the early condition of being far off, and DOES speak of a case that has the potential to be bad for life on this planet. Who knows? It will be interesting to see what happens. Will anyone even notice? Will it live up to a potential promise of increasing earthquakes, weather phenomenon, maybe affecting GPS, compasses, and some communications, maybe affecting people's eyesight, and maybe driving some NUTS? WHO KNOWS?

      But all of that is NOT because of a prophecy, the end of the mayan calendar, etc... It is because the mayan calendar is based on planetary alignment, and such an alignment last happened just before this mayan calendar.

      There is ANOTHER funny thing. I sometimes speak of that person that drove the rolls royce and, last I knew, is destitute, and THAT guy said this, so keep it in mind. Supposedly around 36000 years(or is it 3600), a planet supposedly happens by our solar system. The story goes that ALIENS are there, by the way!(YEP, little grey men!) Frankly, I DOUBT such a planet could support life, but OH WELL! But what would happen to life HERE with such a planet in the mix? BTW I don't know if they know where we are supposed to be in THAT cycle.

    One more thing. I was in a church one time that is at "6642". Th pastor spoke about the IDIOCY I just spoke of. One example he gave was that someone could say that church was the antichrist because 4+2=6 so the address is effectively 666!

    A number of BOOKS have been written about how UPC codes are the mark of the beast. OH, they make it sound like they have a great case! But the bands that they say are 6 are used PRECISELY because they are NOTHING!!!!!! They LOOK like 6! It is CLOSE! But close doesn't cut it with computers. What happens is the device reads it and figures.... OK, that is CLOSE to a 6, but MISSING! The REST may be a UPC code. OK, I saw it again, that is part of a UPC code. OK, I saw it again, that is a UPC code.

    It is a typical way of doing things. To read this. you see a space, figure there may be a word, see something, then see the space, and take it as a word. SAME PROCESS!

    The number 666 has been interpreted SO many ways, and applied to SO many people. One technique used is the old hebrew numerical equivalent, and one person applied using THAT method was NERO! YEP, the roman emporer.

        I haven't bought in to Nostradomus, the Mayans or the supposed St. Malachy prophecies. For some people tomorrow, it will be their end times due to an accident or murder. We are all going to pass out of this world some day as well. No sense getting worked up on the hype of doubtful prophecies.

          You ever see "Last holiday"? I would LOVE to do something similar, but die within a week. That would be GREAT! I could live the rest of my life, albeit short, in relative luxury, and carefree, and leave the planet carefree. And if someone had the craziest of views about the environment, politics, etc... I could just laugh as I said I just hope I can see your face when reality hits you. And I would leave it at that, and go off with nary a care!

          Outside of THAT, you are 100% right. Alas, nobody has yet convinced me 100% of the end of the world and, even if it DID happen, most scenarios are NOT 100%! Edgar cacy, for example, stated that a MAJOR change would happen to the US. If I were living where I was, I would be killed. I forget the date, as I never cared. Ironically, where I moved to, I would STILL be alive and I believe might even see the value of my property go UP quite a bit. I know this ONLY because I saw a picture of the US on a show about him, and I can still remember it rather clearly. But I moved here for OTHER reasons. Oh well, I don't want to die by drowning or getting hit by debris anyway.

          When I read the report on my operation, ESPECIALLY with blood pressures close to 200, I thought my days were SERIOUSLY numbered. Seriously, it is like they fit me together with duct tape! A number of technologies are strictly PROHIBITED unless it is as a last resort, as it was in my case. Even THAT didn't cause me to reconsider my life plans. I guess that is a good thing, because I am almost into my EIGHTH year, and apparently STABLE! My last doctor said it is conceivable I could live past 65 fine, and he said that people have done it. The base technology IS around 60 years old, and has been done much as it is today for almost 40 years. But next february starts my eighth year, and I still feel about as good as I did the day before the problem.

    People, people. 2012 is not going to be the end of the world. How illogical of everyone to think that. Absolutely illogical. Sit down and think about it.

    What do you propose will happen to the world, or the Earth in a mere 1 years time from now? What will it do? Blow up? Not happening.

    The earth will remain, but perhaps things will change. Maybe the population will be wiped out for the most part, but the Earth itself, will remain.

    It's interesting, because Billy Meier also predicted that there will only be one more pope after our current pope.

    He is supposedly a UFO contactee. Now, now - before you get on your high horses, why don't you take a look at evidence. This guy, Billy Meier, has thousands of UFO photos. He has videos, analysed by top video editing companies in the US and they prove the videos are real. He has metal samples, that we on earth cannot make/replicate.

    He has published documents about planets, where even NASA or any other country had not yet explored (then later then NASA did explore, they basically confirmed what Billy had already written down).

    Take a read, there is a lot of information. Oh, and - it also talks about how religion is all wrong. All of them, not just Christianity. It is very interesting stuff.

    If you're going to comment in opposition, I will have expected you to read the above material. If you oppose, without educating yourself, your reply will immediately be discounted - because you really need to read this stuff to make your mind up.

    When Camping predicted the end of the world, a bunch of my friends and I threw a "end of the world party" ... and we'll probably do the same for when the Mayan calender!
