Paypal keeps randomly disabling payment choices and causing subscription payments to fail. Paypal has some godawful new "proprietary" program that causes needless and unjustified disruptions. Here is the BS that PayPal writes:
"PayPal has employed a statistical model that internally looks at each individual transaction purely on a statistical basis. This statistical model is not based upon your credit, or the seller individually. Under the User Agreement, PayPal reserves the right to limit an account holder's choice of funding sources for any individual payment based on analysis performed through proprietary risk modeling systems."

Hey, PayPal, your statistical model sucks.

Also, Paypal is a thieving entity that loots customers with dishonest foreign exchange rates. Paypal sucks.

Hey, Paypal, your "proprietary risk modeling systems" suck. Paypal's "proprietary risk modeling systems" are obviously flawed.

    Paypal sucks.

  • Statistically, statistics suck...heck, 7 out of 10 people will tell you that...

"proprietary risk modeling systems" is their way of saying, "we do what we want now..."

Here's the latest BS response from Paypal:
"In this regard, the reason why you were not able to complete the transaction is because of PayPal's security model. What happens is that for every transaction that happens in the PayPal system, we have an internal security model that identifies patterns of behavior. This is similar to the way banks and credit card companies identify patterns of behavior when approving individual transactions. It does not look at you, your credit or your seller individually. It just looks at the transaction from a pure statistical basis."

Paypal must have invested a lot of money into there crappy and flawed "security model". Paypal sucks.

Paypal is skirting on the ri of legality. Theor size, history, and relationships, allow them to do what others dare not. So it ay be hard to have a competitor. There are probably SIX types of companies:

    1. traditional processors, like authorize.net. The problem is you need your OWN merchant account!
    2. traditional cosign type businesses, like clickbank. The problem is you GIVE UP control, and cash flow.
    3. traditional billers, like CCBILL. Again, you may give u control.
    4. "commodity" systems, like e-gold. e-gold is OOB. SUSPECT!
    5. ones illegally leveraging private merchant accounts, likr stormpay. stormpay is OOB. May get SHUT DOWN!
    6. public 3rd party processors like paypal. Best tradeoff for most.

So paypal doesn't have much competition, and MOST of it is SCAMS!

Dora the Explorer thinks Paypal sucks too? It is certainly a nice educational cartoon and that is definitely worthy information to impart to children.

So we're talking about a monopoly? If not then there must be at least 1 competitor to Paypal out there. You'd think some entrepreneur would want to do that.

As I recall, nobody does it quite like paypal. I looked over all the american offerings, and a few later, although I admittedly may have missed some, and haven't checked lately.

They are not the ONLY way to get paid though, and people COULD compete.

It is not NEARLY as easy as you think though. A lot of people seem to think the world is full of idiots, etc... and they are the FIRST ones that thought of competing. In the 1990s when I got my merchant account, I thought about doing something like paypal. I don't know why, MAYBE it is because I couldn't believe NOBODY had thought of it before, I asked the provider if I could provide payment services for others, using that card. They said NO! Later, paypal went online. One company(I believe it is ccbill) said they provided an account that could be used that way, for about $10,000!

Of course various laws also mean you need better software, some sort of feedback system, and, of course, and SSL cert. It's also a good idea to distribute processing.

HEY, VERISIGN once provided a registration service for $100,000! And you had to pass a compliance test. And they WERE, and really still are, a MONOPOLY! THAT is why they have SO few 1st level competitors. MOST companies are 2nd or 3rd level competitors, which is why enom and godaddy are so large!

        Largest ICANN Registrars

This list is polluted! It shows what someone assumes are ones bought directly through them. Network solutions has more than all others together, at least for com, and net, because they provided 100% of the services and take the lions share. Still, it shows godaddy as having 3-4 times the domains of the next competitor. And some of these guys may actually be purchasing through godaddy or enom, like they all are through network solutions. Some, like enom, allow a person to buy through a person that is buying through them.

I have made sale on ebay and shipped items to Germany, receiver picked up items and claimed his money back after received items. Tracking number provided, receipts of to prove item authentication. Guess what 14k went down the pit hole So stop crying and start making money. I would love to switch to another system, but others charge more and are complicated to use. Paypal is user friendly so nothing you can do about it. Try neteller or moneybookers and it might fit you

I think they got virus issues as well especially spyware. For some reason whenever I make a payment and receive the confirmation from paypal in html format it has a torjan virus in it. I stopped opening it.
