NBA is going to be exciting again!!

beat Lakers with career high 38 points with 8 assists in his 3rd NBA career start..

lol, I got a couple of friends saying that/paying attention to NBA again because of him!!

But seriously, Lin showed that he could do this 2 summers ago when he dropped like 30 against John Wall @ the Summer League (yeah it is the Summer League... still). Playing behind Monta Ellis+Stephen Curry and 2 other guards just didn't give him the chance to shine. Let's just hope Melo and STAT doesn't take his mojo away from him when they come back!

Being a Warrior fan I watched him play last year when he played a few minutes here and there. He looked like a promising player but what he is doing now is totally unexpected. Dorell Wright, his team mate last year, played with him in the off season and said he added some strength and some new moves. I think he watched Ellis and Curry all year and learned from them. He is smart, confident and will likely keep improving.

I watched him dismantle the Lakers on Friday and it was extremely fun to watch!

He just seems like the ultimate underdog as far as basketball players go - An Asian AND a New York Knicks player. How can you not cheer for a guy like this to pummel the LeBron James' and Kobes of the NBA?

The Lakers challenged him to beat us and he had a good game.

Congrats to the guy but time will tell if he's just hot for the moment or will be a truly respectable force in the hyper-competitive NBA.

Very true - that hot hand seems to come and go very quickly with some players. I just hope that he continues to get better.

I'm not even a Knicks fan - I'm a Bulls fan. I hope my bulls have a good answer for him. But no matter what sport I'm watching, I've always been a "good player" fan over all else. And watching him play on Friday was a real treat.

Powerful bench to baller story, even if you're not a basketball fan. It'll be interesting in the coming weeks to see how he responds as more teams start to focus more defensive plays (traps, double teams) on him. Also how he'll exert himself when the big guns Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire come back. Stay tuned!

It should be fun - because even when they double-team him, he's great at passing and making the rest of the team feel more confident.

The Knicks are my team and I couldn't be happier for Lin, but let's put away the annointing oil everyone. Let's not put Lin in the Hall of Fame just yet. I need to see a couple of season's of excellence - not just a few games. The main reason people are going crazy is because Lin is scoring a bunch of points. But all of that changes when Amare and Melo return. Lin has to feed the big guns. As a result, his scoring average is going to go way down, because he's going to become more of a distributor. That's his main role now. He's no longer the first option. When Lin is only averaging 12 or 13 points a game, SportsCenter and the rest of the free world won't be so interested in him.

Is Lin for real? As a long-suffering Knicks fan, I certainly hope so. But the truth of the matter is right now we just don't know.

It's too early to put him in the lists fo current NBA greats but this kid has rewritten the basketball history book when he scored 109 points in his first 4 career starts ahead of Iverson, Jordan, Kobe, and Shaq... and he is doing it with consistency.... on Valentines day against Raptors... 27 pts with 11 assists... superb!

I am a Dallas fan but because of Lin, I hope both teams meet in the Finals...

He is scoring and dropping dimes with consistency... but he is also turning over the ball with that exact same consistency too. But it's still his 2nd season and 6 full games he's played, great potential.

Me and my friend were watching it on TV last night and we went crazy when he hit that final shot (half the crowd in Toronto was thrilled by it too hahaha)

As a Knicks fan, I'm excited for my team and I'm delighted for Jeremy Lin. But again, I caution everyone, six games does not a career make. I've seen this story before - right here in New York, in fact, with the Giants' Victor Cruz and Super Bowl 42 hero, David Tyree. The difference is Victor Cruz did it for an entire season. He proved to everyone that he was the real deal. David Tyree? Not so much. Jeremy Lin? Stay tuned.

Do I believe Jeremy Lin is the real deal? Yes, I do, but I don't know that for a fact. Not yet, anyway - none of us do. It's just too soon to tell. Remember, Jeremy Lin is getting a lot of attention because he's scoring a ton of points. He took 20 shots last night. Those shots won't be available when Carmelo returns later this week. SportsCenter will quickly lose interest in Lin when he's only averaging 12 or 13 points a game. And when SportsCenter loses interest in Lin, so too, will the rest of the world.

Yes, be happy and excited for Jeremy Lin. I certainly am. But I've seen way too many supernova's flame out in my lifetime to start bouncing off the wall after only one week.

      Remember Buster Douglas?

I don't care if he flames out or not. Actually it would be nice if his first flameout came when he plays the bulls. - BUT - It's fun watching him right now.

I personally don't think he's a flash in the pan. Basketball is one game where you can't just be lucky and score that many points. But that being said, I'm looking forward to next Thursdays game Knicks vs Heat to be televised on TNT. It should be a fun one to watch. I love this game!

Well, I do care, because I'm a Knicks fan. I want to see Lin succeed. If Lin succeeds, the Knicks succeed. And basketball IS one game where you CAN get lucky (or hot) and score a lot of points in a short amount of time. It's called being in a "zone."

Being in a "zone" in basketball is almost always referring to a shooting streak during one game. He's had 6 games in a row now w/ 20 or more points. Plus I'm pretty sure that there's no such thing as a lucky zone when it comes to assists. That's just something you are good at or not. He's making the rest of the team good, because he's great at assists.

If you're convinced, hop on that bandwagon - knock yourself out! Not me. I need to see a whole lot more than six games - a whole lot more. And don't forget, Baron Davis is the starter when he gets healthy. There's no way you put Baron Davis on the bench....Or do you???

I have to admit, that's a nice problem to have. Personally, I would ride Lin for as long as he has the hot hand.

      Go Knicks!!!

I am in total agreement. Not only D'Antoni's job, but also other's job (selling jersey's tickets, etc)...

After dissing out 13 assists last night, and still 6 turnovers, he pointed out that the TO is something that he needs to work on HARD. He knew his mistakes and that's the thing I like him... Melo doesn't knew his selfishness...

If he can lower his TO to max of 2 per game, this kid has a decade in NBA...

Because basketball for the owner is a game of money, I'm pretty sure that they're not going to bench their number one seller of jerseys right now.

But I can easily see your point. If he stumbles the next few games, he could easily turn into an asterisk. I just don't think he will.

I want to see Lin succeed in the worst way. But I've been disappointed by my Knicks so often, for so many years...I've developed a "I'll believe it when it happens" attitude.

As far as what's best for the team, Baron Davis, when healthy is an absolute stud. He's a better player than Lin. But right now, the team is feeding off of Lin's energy and hunger. So I wouldn't make that change.

But like I said, it's a nice problem to have.

You may not like Melo, but the dude is an absolute stud. A perennial allstar. And when it comes to clutch, it's Kobe, Melo and everyone else.

No one player can guard him. Is Melo selfish? Yes he is. But if he decides to grow up and start playing team ball...watch out. But overrated...not a chance!

        Highly over-rated.

Yep, he is clutch. Which means he'll win 2 games a year on last second shots. But he'll also miss one of those shots.

Unlike Kobe, Melo doesn't make the players around him better. He's been out of the first round of the playoffs exactly one time, when Chauncy first came back to Denver. BTW, it was Chauncy's 7th trip to the conference finals.

Chauncey 7. Melo 1. Who should get the credit?

Funny how the Knicks record is worse since the trade, while my Nuggets are winning more games. We average about a point a game better, but give up about 6 points fewer.

And historically, the Nuggets had about the same winning percentage with and without Melo in the lineup.

How's the Knicks record with and without Melo?

He's also a punk. Things like:

Cheap shotting the Knick in the face years ago, then back-peddling 3/4 court. If you're going to hit someone when they're not looking, be a man and stand your ground, not run away.

Making the "don't snitch" video with the rapper in Baltimore.

Getting caught with MJ in his backpack at the airport and blaming it on a friend.

Getting into a fight at 3 am at a local 7-11.

Sure, Melo's a great scorer. But he's not a great offensive player. He doesn't help anyone else score. His teams win at least as much without him as they do with him.

He's in the class of a World B. Free or a Mark Aguire...But NOT Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Rose, Durant and another dozen or so players in the NBA right now.

With Melo theres atleast some chance of a ring. You win a championship with all stars. We have enough money to sign decent players with melo amare and chandler.

Right at this point in time, the Knicks have more ex Nuggets from that trade than the Nuggets have ex-Knicks.

In case you haven't paid attention, Chandler played in China this year, although there talk he'll rejoin the Nuggets shortly. I hope so, he's a good player.

Gallo and Mosgov are the only two players we got in the trade on the team at this time. And they've both been out for the past 2 weeks or so.

But I'll take Gallo and Mosgov over Smelo any day...The rest was just gravy.

And if Smelo's so good, why are the Knicks on their best streak in quite a while with him on the bench?

  • Because Dantonis routine uses a pg for the main offense. I would take gallo and mosgov over carmelo as well. But look at how much there getting paid. When we had those players we, we werent paying them as much as the nuggets are. We knew that they'd get a salary increase thats why we decided to trade.

Another ex Nugget...Jr is fun to watch though. He'll often be the best player on the court, it's just a matter of for which team.

He's got great skills. Can jump out of the gym and has incredible shooting range. But like Melo, sharing the ball or making quick decisive moves isn't his strength.

Many people are expecting him to fail, but I think he is the real deal. I just wish the Warriors gave him more of a chance last year. However, you can't blame last years Warriors coach Kieth Smart that much because he really didn't show the star quality that he is now. Maybe it is D'Antoni. maybe it was the hard work in the off season. Maybe he made a deal with the devil like the great blues guitarist Robert Johnson did according to legend. Whatever reason, it does make you take notice and want to watch him play.
