I Finally Cured My Boredom

Some of you might remember that a few weeks ago I posted here in OT that
I had cut my work hours significantly and needed stuff to do.

Well, I set up another PC with an old OS and installed a bunch of old games
that I had that I really loved and hadn't played in a few years.

Now, I'm having a blast. I work about 2 hours a day, if that and the rest
of the day I'm either blowing up enemy buildings, running a baseball team,
playing casino games or flying all around the world in my Cesna.

Life is good.

Seriously... It will be the most addicting thing you've ever done in your life. (Unless you've been into hardcore drugs before :-) )
Travian too. My son was very addicted to it to the extent of leaving the computer just to pee. Uppssss ... what an "addict" but in fairness he is very intelligent.. Me? I know nothing about this boredom thing. I value time because time is money and time loss can never be retrieve. Better make the most out of your time. remember, time flies.

I wish I had a few more hours every day, Im envious of you all!

After my work everyday, and caring for the family, my only addiction is my Squidoo building, which has even taken over the time I used to spend on my websites.

Squidoos are really addictive once you really get into them. We have probably built more than 250 since November when we started a WSO that has since taken over our lives.

2 hours work a day ... hmmmm... so how did you do that? Do you have a thread here with the full story?

I'm playing the game too and got me hooked in the initial try. Blasting the heads off zombies is very nice way to relieve stress.

the old final fantasy games that came out in the 90s were pretty addictive, 40-100 hours per game from start to finish.

Steven, this is not really healthy, this could be worse than doing IM all day. You really have to go out of your house!

Steven, With your abilities I would have thought you'd be writing the
all American novel by now. Something that uses your writing skills but
has nothing to do with IM. Fiction, Biographies, kids books, docudrama,
history, etc. How does that go? Dance like nobody is watching, work
like you don't need the money, something like that.

Get Counter-Strike: Source. Best first persons shooter! I play competitively. I've been playing less since I've been putting more time into making money online, work, school, snowboardings, and friends/girls. I', quitting in the next few months totally, buying a macbook to make it official. The ultimate anti-gaming machine!

    Hi Steve -

So glad you are happy and having fun.

The one game I really regret losing is by Sierra Games -- Kings Quest - the one I had was number VI - 'The Perils of Rosella' - I was never much good at it, but I think if I kept at (beating my head against the wall) I could have aced it eventually.

The only one I play now is Bookworm until I get a stiff neck and then I stop.

Refuse to ever grow up! You can't get old that way!

I just uninstalled WoW from my computer the other day. Abandoned a fully epic'd out 80 rogue.

My marketing career is suffering because of that game!

Can somebody please explain what boredom is and how it is created?

We live in a world of infinite wonder populated by infinite personalities asking an infinite number of questions.

We live under a sky that is infinitely variable, among surroundings that are infinitely exploitable for entertainment and knowledge.

We have brains that are infinitely variable in their emotional responses to the infinite levels of stimuli that surround us

    AND YOU GET BORED?????

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
