Just watched Casino Royale for about the 12th time... Any other fans here? What's your favourite Bond moment?

    The old Casino Royale...or the new one?

    Best Bond movie is a toughie, but they don't have the icons and catch phrases like they used to...the DB5 Aston Martin (who couldn't use a car with machine guns and an ejector seat?), Rolex, Walther ppk, 007 (license to kill), the vodka martini, "shaken - not stirred"...

    I don't think anyone can say "bond' today, without waiting for the other "James Bond" to drop...and you didn't want to be late for the movie...the start was one of the coolest parts!

    And Odd Job? Was that hat cool, or what? :rolleyes:

    And Hot Spy Chicks with cool names...where do they get those? :rolleyes:

      Ha ha ha... you gave that plenty of thought!!! The new one of course! The old one wasn't a real Bond movie - only a p***-take. Of course if you are a fan of the books you will recognise the new one as being a rather clever movie of the original book from way back when...

        It was but do you know that Ian Fleming had David Niven in mind when it was mentioned they would be made as films?

        So you could say that whilst it was a p***-take, it had the one 'authentic' element that Ian Fleming wanted.

          I didn't know that Jimbo.. I did know that he also was thinking about Patrick McGoohan who was in the original series of The Prisoner. Did you see that? I LOVED that freaky program!

            Hi Dave

            Yes I have seen the Prisoner. Or rather some of the episodes.

            I'm 39 so obviously never saw the original. Maybe they were re-run when someone died.

            PM died 3 years ago so maybe I saw them then, I can't remember.

            I did go here once for a visit. Interesting.

              Yeah I saw a few on repeats when in college (I am 40) and then bought the boxset and watched them all! Love the one with the sounds of Big ben.. I would LOVE to go to Portmeiryon. Someday...

                Though Craig is a good Bond, I'm still going with Connery...he had the right combination of suave and swagger (and he is a Scot ) , though Craig has a rougher edge, like the book description.
                The James Bond Daniel Craig plays looks like he could go off any second...

                Brosnan could have been used better, but I don't know if anyone is picking Moore as the top...David Niven is sort of like those two...though very suave, I think Niven lacked the physicality to play a Bond...and then there was Lazenby...he only got one shot -

                Patrick McNee might have made a good Bond...but he is kind of like Moore - and anyway, he got Diana Rigg in a cat suit on "The Avengers" - great series...but John Steed was a little more British than brutish...

                (I always get Patrick McNee and Patrick McGoohan mixed up...:rolleyes

                They all got shots at being secret agents at one time or another...

                I also seem to remember talk of Mel Gibson taking a shot at the title at one time...

    I read the entire series of Ian Fleming when I was a kid - Bond was a little more human in print...great stuff - I think the first book I read was "Dr. No"...couldn't stop after that -

      Yeah, I agree.. I think DC is the best so far cos he adds more of that human dimension that was evident in the books - plus it helps that the scriptwriters didn't give him bloody stupid lines like they did to Brosnan.. he could have been so good!

    I never thought I'd like any Bond better than Connery but have to say I think Craig is a perfect fit for the role. Sad to say, I think many of the older Bond films are dated now.. maybe a remake with Craig is in order?

    I haven't watched many Bond movies - a few, and I enjoyed them. But when I was a teenager, I read a LOT of Bond novels and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them! I would have to read them again to decide my favourite.
