I'd go forward 100 years. I believe mankind will make take huge evolutionary steps in that time towards developing our potential more fully.

I may be considered on a par with a chimpanzee at that time but I'd still love to attend some of their futuristic seminars on developing human potential.

There's an inherent problem with going back in time and doing something, anything, to change things, such as going back and making "sure my ex's parents never meet." (That's a pretty good reason, though, Tom!)

Even making the slightest change could result in our not being born when we were, you know, the 'Six Degrees From Kevin Bacon' thing. IN some way we are all connected.

So I wouldn't want to go back to change anything, although it would be very tempting, but I'd really like to go back and be able to hold my son again before he passed on, even if for only few minutes. If I'd known he was going to pass away I'd have held him so much more than I did.

Sorry, don't mean to be a downer, but that's what I would do.

@GLCHANDLER- That's the silliest answer ever. Why would you go forward 2 days when you can just wait 2 days to see the results???

@Thomas Wilkinson- Wow what did your ex wife do to you? You sound very angry!

@Star- you don't have to take it literal cause there's no real time machine so you don't have to worry about whatever happens if you go back and change something. But your other answer was sweet and sad.

I couldn't go back before electricity and running water and hot showers cause I'm too dependent and can't live without em. I'd like to see how people lived looooooooong ago, but I know they stunk really bad so I wouldn't want to smell them.

I'd be like that silly looking pig tail man (How come theres 2 members with that same picture?) and go back and get great domain names. I can't go back in the early 90s cause my parents didn't allow me to have internet, so I had to wait till I was 18 and moved out. But when I turned 18, knowing what I know now, I would have gotten a ton of great domains and done awesome stuff n I'd be rich now.

I'm a bit scuppered here because the things that keep me alive did not exist 70 years ago so that would be my backwards travel limit.

It would be nice to go back and see my parents and my dead wives and children again but since my memories of them are probably idealised by now, maybe not such a good idea.

That leaves me the future - and I think I would love to go forward 100 years to the next ice age and yell "Nyyaaarrr! Told you so!!"

You could always astral project to the time and space you want to be, jump into your own body and change what you did. If it's someone else, you could be their "guardian" angel.

Well, yes, Sal, that is one of the more luxurious options, but it's a great bargain when you buy it already installed as compared to installing it at a later date, and you might want to remember to get the Corinthian leather as well. The Corinthians were quite impressed when they seen I had it installed in my time machine the last time I stopped in. They really loved the double stitching.

I would highly suggest you get the undercoating to protect your machine from road salt. Many of the customers also enjoy the addition of Sirius/XM satellite radio, and they gain peace of mind from OnStar.

In my book, The Time Travellers, the time machine travelled through time but NOT space!
Once the time machine started to travel, it occupied the same spot in space but the Earth, of course, didn't - resulting in all journeys having to be planned so that they terminated in a place that, as far as could be calculated, was not occupied by something else.
The end of the first journey was, shall we say, somewhat of a shock?

Yep...absolutely silly. Maybe I should have picked two days into the future to check on the lottery numbers so I could come back and win $$$$$$$. Nah...that would be almost as silly since I could just wait two days and the newspaper will print them. Of course I would need to wait that long to learn something and wouldn't have an opportunity to fine-tune my number picks.

Or maybe I should have picked two days into the future so I could discover the price of oil so I could come back and make a fortune either shorting a stock or submitting a buy/sell on my "advance" knowledge of the pricing. Nah...I will just wait to see and then wonder if I could have turned a profit.

Nope. I know. I should have taken a short trip into the future to check on any domain names that could have turned a quick profit. Darn...another silly trip so I will just wait and see if that neat two-word domain I thought of amounted to anything on someone else's profit sheet.

Nope...still don't know how to have fun so I will just dream of going back 10 or 15 or 200 or maybe 1500 years so I could make a change in history that will affect me in a positive way when I return to the present.

Yep that is exactly what I should have decided on...now THAT would not be silly at all!

I would go back to the day God created Adam and Eve and tell Eve that snakes don't talk...

If she didn't listen, well...I would yank that apple from her hand before she took a bite out of it...

If I am too late, well...I would tackle Adam to the ground and tell him he's a dumass if he bites that apple after God told him not to...

If he is stronger than I am, doesn't listen to me, and he wrestles me and ends up biting the apple, I'd be the first to tell God, "I tried to warn them, God, but they didn't listen! Please don't do anything to me! I didn't eat any apples, bananas, grapes, nothing!"

I'd go back to whenever it was and stop that arsonist is Australia. Then if I get another go I'd probably go back to when I feel in love with a woman on Holiday in Spain. After that probably something else to save people's lives. Because everything I want I already have (or will have) in this life. So I may as well do something to help other people.

I always thought that grass would be legal by now. The way I seen it was that the young people who toked up would eventually run for office and get elected and create change from within.

Guess not. The money and power must've gone to their heads. Such a shame because we held out such hope.

When I was growing up I felt I had been born in the wrong time. I wanted to be living in England in the 1800's. Why? I thought it would be neat to have a Queen and more importantly - horses were the mode of transportation and I loved riding more than anything.

Then I grew up and realized I'd be a woman in a time when women were expected to stay in "their place" and I've never been a good place holder.

I think the lottery idea is best - I could buy my own stables.

You must be younger than I supposed or you would remember that. It DID cause some attention - but we were not as in-tune with universal energy yet...uh...I mean we could have caused a whole lot more attention if we had been successful. However - there were those who insist that it did raise a few inches.

Now that we are getting so practiced at visualization and manifestation we'd surely be able to raise it noticeably enough that even a corporate press couldn't deny it happened.

Actually - I have been thinking about this question and I think that I would want to go back to Michigan about 6 thousand years ago and find out who the heck it was that was mining the copper back then. If anyone has been able to find out yet it's being kept very quiet for some reason.

Not a myth at all. And it's actually estimated that the earth is somewhere between 6-8 thousand years old. A few say 10 but 6 thousand is more accurate.

And the fossils were formed during the great flood in Noah's time.

Here's a thought.....

Even Stephen Hawking has changed his mind on the possibility of time travel being probable one day. Assuming we eventually crack it, it's therefore reasonable to assume that people from the future could be here right now.

I almost bought $1,000 of stock in Microsoft in 1981 and my Dad talked me out of it. I would go back and buy stock in Microsoft, and Chrysler. Then I would marry a specific person other than my X.

There are many, but i'll state a few...
- Go back many years and register every LLLL.com name available, and sell them around 2010 for $50 each!
- Get into lead websites at age 13 when I started going websites, instead of about a week ago when I am almost 16. I'd be way ahead of what I am at now.
- Never put worthless time into SEO when I didn't achieve a whole lot, just stick with Google Adwords .
- Start playing hockey at the age of 3 and make it to the NHL

I would visit the Renaissance age if I could go anywhere. I'd also like to travel to the future - perhaps 100 years from now, just to see if any of the actions we took today have any impact on tomorrow.

That time period may be interesting but remember they had no electricity or indoor plumbing

Late sixties, early seventies.

I'm stuck in this era just love the music of that time.

I would, without a doubt, go back just before North America was settled by the Europeans. Imagine how pristine and clean this land was before man and his ignorance and hyper-consumption polluted the land, air and water, and tore it all up.

At least there are a few unspoiled places left to take my sons to see Mother Nature's beauty.

I'd probably go back to the 1980's, before the first recognized cases of AIDS occurred in the United States, and try to educate people about the disease and the ways of prevention. Imagine the difference it could have made, and the lives it could have saved.

I always dreamed of having a Time Machine.

I would go back to 1969, a most important year for me.

The QE2 and France classic liners were sailing the Seven Seas
Woodstock, the Isle of Wight
the first men landing and walking on the Moon
and most of all the first Concorde flight!

Bring me a Time Machine!

You'd just be stuck in a parallel universe a la 'Sliders'

If we went back or forward to before a catastrophic event or disease (AIDS for example) and tried to warn people, they'd probably accuse us of being terrorists or just plain nutcases and sock us in a padded cell somewhere.

Hmm, I'd got to ancient rome right before it became an Empire. I'd be a gladiator, win the affection of it's citizens, they would make me their King and I'd change the face of history forever. That or the time of Atlantis, I really think it's real lol
