How much does it cost to publish a book? How did you sell your book?

How long is a piece of string? You would get the same answer..... Costs vary, as does everything else. There is NO definitive answer so maybe you should sit down and think of some more accurate questions if you want any sensible answers.

I would also love to publish a book. And I guess, we must go to a publisher in order for us to get published!

I've had three books published by a real publisher. Didn't cost me anything. They came to me.

You can self-publish through CreateSpace and it will only cost a few dollars for a proof copy. Then you can order what you need at a very minimal cost. They'll also sell it for you, so you don't even need to keep an inventory if you don't want to. It's print on demand, so you can order as few as just one book if you like.

They also have a usable tool for designing the cover, but you can do your own graphics or hire that out. You could have a book for sale and a couple sample copies for less than $25 for an average sized book.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

eBooks are now outselling physical books. Why give away all of your profits to a publisher when you can be the publisher?

Why not do both and earn from both market spaces? A lot of people prefer print books.

There are also advantages to being published by a real publisher that publishing your own ebook can't provide.
