Jim Carrey is an acquired taste, for sure - I enjoyed that one.

Haven't seen Total Recall in many years. Could be interesting...

          Mike,
I actually like both actors, Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels, it is just that one movie I don't get.

I didn't get it either Kim.
Another one I never got was the Tom Hanks movie with the ball Wilson.
Everyone I know raves about it, I think it is possibly the most boring movie made.
            Go figure.

Same here Thom, though ,once again,my wife loved it. Of course besides Tom's love affair with the ball,it was also a love story on a female level,so I think that plays a big part on why she likes it.

I think it is a female thing. I loved Castaway. Lost love, Love returned, Love lost, love found. In between there was a crash, a bad tooth and a ball.

                The end

I try not to think about how Wilson may have received all those rips and tears.
Instead I focus on the beautiful story of a man and his ball. *tears, cue the violin*

LOL, well I didn't "get it" either, but then sometimes I like a movie for just that reason - no plot, slapstick, dumb-a$$ comedy.

While not my favorite Hanks movie, I did like this one. From an action sense, you're right - kinda boring. Although, I thought the whole airplane going down scene was one of the best ones I have seen, from a special effects standpoint.

But sometimes I do like movies like this one - a sort of "what would you do" thing. Character study. How would I survive if I suddenly found myself on a deserted island for 4 years... then rescued. I would have preferred to see more after his return and his readjustment to civilization.

I probably wouldn't start a relationship with a ball, but I suppose the idea was his character trying to maintain some semblance of "contact", which for most is a basic human need. A survival thing.

Whatever - like I said - not my favorite Hanks movie, but we own the dvd

Yeah I saw that trailer yesterday.
It prompted my posting about the worst movie remakes ever. I can't judge this one yet but I'm a BIGGGGGGG Total Recall fan so I may not be open minded enough to appreciate the remake.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5960938].message }}
  • It does have a pretty cool trailer...I cracked up though when I saw what looked like a .45 cocked

I flashed back to that girl in 'Avatar' who wore the Ray-Bans...how retro of them  - I guess some things just can't be improved on

Total Recall was made in 1990! So yeah...old/new

Don't feel bad...I saw Sharon Stone on the cover of AARP the other day...and I thought, oh, maaan! That's twisted...:p It was a shock to my basic instincts!

Total Recall is my favorite Arnold movie by far. An action movie with a great plot.

I'm just not sure how they will improve it? And how to you improve Sharon Stone?

Like Jonathan Waters says, we need to remake the bad movies, not the good ones.

I'd have to agree with you on this one. Arnold ain't much of an actor, but this one was cool.

With today's special effects, as compared to 1990. I would think you'd see improvement there... I hope. And although I love Sharon Stone - well, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Beal? I think they haven't done too poorly there

Hmmm - good point. But if they remake BAD movies, who'd go to see them?

Wonder if the 3 titty chick will be in it

previews looks really cool, from what I read it's not like a 100% remake of the original, it's going to have it's own bits here and there.

  • What does anyone think of the upcoming 3 Stooges Movie? (no not Iggy)

I like old Stooges movies a lot...and Stooges movies are meant to be stupid - but this kind of just looks stupid not in a good way...more like train-wreck stupid.

I have never liked the stooges.
They took slapstick, whick I DO think is funny and made it "personal"
I have never felt their "violent" brand of humor was funny.

From that era give me WC Fields Mae West The Marx Brothers or Laurel and Hardy any day.

As I said before, somethings just shouldn't be touched. 3 Stooges is one of those things. They can't even make the trailer look interesting, I'll pass on the movie.

But I would go see The Stooges. Iggy has weathered well.

Hmm. The original one was an okay movie. This one seems kind of lame. I mean, it is PG-13. However, the Fright Night remake with Farrel was good.

It doesn't look like it's going to live up to the original, guys.

From the trailer it looks like it's missing authenticity or something.
