In honour of the Bob Marley biopic just released, BobMarley.com | Marley the Movie it seems like a good time for a Reggae thread.

I'll start with two of my favourite Marley tracks:

Hey Frank, you are dead right. I don't think we ever had a Reggae thread. Marley was more than a man, more than a musician, more than a human! More like the second coming, or something. Lol

I don't think there's anything by him that I don't like. I had the privilege of seeing his son, Ziggy, live a few years ago.

  Man... where do I start... I could post reggae tunes all afternoon. Not the best audio quality on a few of them, but the grooves make up for it.

This is the earliest version that I remember hearing.If the date is correct then I was about 14 years old. Loved the song then and still do.

I am not much of a Reggae fan, Mon - I will listen to all of these going forward - and maybe i will change my mind.

Just wanted to say I just found out two days ago that my sister's daughter, KT (Katie) has given me my very first great-niece - and her name is MARLEY.

  Thom, those are some fabulous tracks. I'm ashamed to admit I don't have any Israel Vibration in my collection. That'll soon be remedied.

  Here's a song that's been much covered, perhaps most notably by Johnny Clarke, but none better than the original. The Abyssinians, Declaration Of Rights:

  Max Romeo made a name for himself in the late 1960s for his "suggestive" lyrics (his single "Wet Dream" was banned by the BBC) but found his roots groove in the 1970s and beyond. This 1976 track was later heavily sampled by The Prodigy:
