I have.

Whilst waiting on the school bus to move, A neighbor backed into my 07 Camry which my daughter was driving to work. The neighbor was very insistent on not claiming it on her insurance, thinking it was a simple (cheap) fix. So began my annoyance and a woe-is-me attitude on my part . First a little back story...

Due to extenuating circumstances and some "creative" financing, I have 3 car loans in my name, two of which are driven by my kids. In order to pull this off, I really got reamed on the interest rate on the oldest vehicle, the 07 Camry. A whopping 16.9%! A necessary evil at the time.

Fast forward 15 months later, and 79,000 miles on the car,( 32,000 of which was put on the car by my 22 yr old, much to my chagrin) and an entire week spent getting estimates on the damage, and soft shopping a new car.

So, the neighbor gets a reality check. $xxxx damage. She decides to put in a claim (surprise!)
Another 3 days of my life at Car dealers, this time hard shopping, and bickering with my wife, and thoroughly convinced I had been cursed
Now I am super agitated.

All for naught...

Turns out that when a car hits 80,000 miles, the value drops like a rock.
Got rid of the Camry in the nick of time, without fixing the damage, used part of the insurance claim cash for a down payment, Got a ROCKING 3.9% finance rate, and a newer vehicle with a 3 yr maintenance package thrown in.

All completely worth the aggravation! A true blessing in disguise!
