The Munsters Remake....

They are remaking The Munsters television show with Jerry O'Connell as Herman and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.

I can maybe see Eddie as grandpa but Jerry? hmmm

Don't get me wrong, I like Jerry (he is particularly good as guest host on Live with Kelly). He's a funny guy, but I just don't see him as Herman.

I hear they want to make it "darker"; I hope not too dark. The Munsters are supposed to be charming (esp. Herman) not terrifying.

    I don't think anyone is getting too excited about O'Connell as Herman Munster. He just doesn't have that certain 'IT". We were talking about this very thing a couple of days ago.

    WOW, WHO did they music for that pilot? The Series was better. And only 3 on the pilot went on to the series.

    My gawd...with that abhorrent excuse for a pilot introduction (2nd unaired) it's a wonder that show got anywhere, much less popular...

    (I still wonder how they ever talked Yvonne De Carlo into doing that...she must have been in hock up to her pointy ears)

      When I first saw it I thought it was a spoof, but no it is the un-aired pilot.

        Beverly owen, Al lewis and fred gwynne wouldn't have done ths sort of spoof, especially without the others while the series aired. ALSO, where would they get the set, etc?

        Fred looks a bit younger than on the series, and al does also. I guess beverly was too young to show much age.

        I could believe this as a plot, especially since I think I heard about happy derman and phoebe. Some casting gaffs are incredible. I never saw this though. That music IS lousy, and the lunch and all looks a bit TOO natural.

        Remakes are rarely as good. And fred had the best type of appearance, etc..., for this. He could look almost like the monster, and play a lovable goof. I think keeping those three was good. I think yvvon(sp?) was better than the woman that played phoebe, and butch was better than happy.
