You could go to others forums in that specific niche.

Let's say you want to write something about flying or fishing. Let's assume you do not know anything about it. You can do following.

Visit forums about flying, forums about fishing, hang out there read as many threads as you can, ask questions, get involved in their conversations, etc. That is how you gather information to write about any topic.

Another thing you can do is. You can go to ezine articles. Type in the search box flying or fishing. Once the search comes back with the results, you can read all the articles that are there and use those articles for inspiration. Do not copy the exact words or they might accuse you of stealing their work. Use your own words, imagination, etc.

Here's an idea for you. Why not put yourself out these as a freelance writer? People are always looking for native english writers. If you get good you can make some nice cash.

Start by creating a free profile at odesk.com, vworker.com, rent-acoder.com and then when you get some cash you could advertise in the warrior for hire section here.

To answer your question. Forums are a great resource. Check out big-boards.com for a nice list of active forums in many niches.
