Ever seen this website: Whatdoestheinternetthink.net ?

It's really fun to see the results... perhaps it could be useful for analyzing how people feel about different trends/products/activities

Anyways, I was unpleasantly surprised when I typed in 'Warrior Forum' :p

Considering things like "Hitler" have an 85% positive rating (and there were a plethora of other examples flooding Reddit for a month after the site launched), it'd be more than just a little bit foolish to trust the algorithm to get anything right.

Of course, it might make for some hilarious threads here.

I think the algorithm just searches for nearby words surrounding the given phrase and decides whether they give a positive or negative connotation to the phrase.

Of course, it's nearly impossible (or very hard) to sort all the words of English language into postive/negative/indifferent categories. Even then, computer programs can't recognize sarcasm patterns.

      Fun idea nontheless :p

Apparently, the Internet doesn't think about much. Other than WF, I kept getting "nothing indexed" messages.

Which pretty much goes along with my initial reaction...

        What does the Internet think?

        0000111001010010100100101010101001...

Well, at least the internet is positive about internet marketers. :p

But it is negative about puppies, so what does that really say?

Very interesting! LOL... The Internet is negative about men and women. Oh well, at least they are somewhat balanced in their negativity (although slightly tipped towards women - doesn't surprise me.)

It sounds like this site is about as useful or reliable as the report I paid for when a newbie that was supposed to help me with market trends - finding a product or service - what is hot and what is not

It was 100 pages long and the first 99 were about movie stars, other 'celebrities' and things like sexy underwear which I had no interest in selling, degenerating down into the subjects I won't even mention. Never did find anything relevant although it may have been in there somewhere.

It was among my first totally wasted investments in my quest to never get another job.

There is so much intelligence on the Internet - it is incredible of course - but I don't understand how things always boil down to CRAP.

I'm staying in Romania for a while but I'm from Chicago, is there a problem?

Well, in theory it is impossible to automate this. HECK, even HUMANS throw so much bias in that it is INCREDIBLE. And there is already a natural bias, which makes REAL statistics impossible.
