Mercedes is good but it's too clean, too tight, too good a car for a more senior a Mr. and not for someone younger.

Back in the 1970s I had a friend and an employer who drove Cadillacs. Since then I've always said that some day I would own one. Last year I finally got a Deville and I love it. Just for fun, I wouldn't mind having a 1950 era MG TD. I had a buddy who owned one and believe me, the heads all turn when that car goes by.

You mean since Tata bought them?

When they were English they were crap.

When they were owned by Ford they were crap.

Now they are owned by Tata they are great.

As far as looks and style, the newer ones are way superior to the ones of the last few years IMO, but I havent driven one. My friend used to get new Jags every year, and would trade me sometimes for my motorcycle for the day, when he felt like riding... They were freakin awesome to drive! Except the XKR had alot of blind spots, you had to twist your neck around like the exorcist to see anything around you.

The new ones are nice - but I still have a 'thing' for the E-Type V12's...
I know it was fickle. I know it could be a pain.(it was English after all) but it was soooo daaang puuurty  and the engine growl? Pure Jag

I know this may seem not in the spirit of the thread. I'm not really a fan of cars. All I see is $$$ flying out of my pocket.

Granted I understand the appeal of being in a nicer car than one that is a clunker, but I can't stand driving during the day. Sometimes it's enjoyable at night.

My ideal situation would be to rarely need one.

I used to have a boss whose parent's won this very car in a raffle back in 1965 new, and gave it to her as a high school graduation present - she hardly ever drove it, (she had another car) and it was babied and garaged all those years - I knew her in the '90's, and it still looked showroom new...(it was Red )

I can think of a lot of different vehicles that I would love to own if money was not an object. The current car that is at the top of the list would have to be the newest generation corvette that just came out, aka Stingray. I would like the ZR-1 equivalent.

I love and appreciate many older style cars, but I want the better technology that we have today. If I ever went for a car from the 60's I would probably make it a restomod and put a modern drivetrain with the older shell of the car.

I guess I could win the lotto!

I'm waiting to see the convertible in person instead of ordering, but I'll probably be getting one of these the week they come out. I'm on my 4th Corvette now and as much as I don't care for the camaro style lights, the rest of it is perfect and outweighs it.
