How do you include a quoted reply in a post ?
i.e not just quoting a simply reply
but one which already contains a quote ?

When quoting a message in html, if the message already quotes another message you'll see a nesting of quote codes such as:

    <quote>content 2<quote>content 1</quote></quote>

The forum BB code uses [ and ] instead of < and >, so when they are replaced in the above code it becomes a quoted quote on the forum:

    content 2
    content 1
If you put the users name in there as:

    <quote=Harvey.Segal>content 3<quote=Harvey.Segal>content 2<quote=Harvey.Segal>content 1</quote>content 2</quote>content 3</quote>

then when the < and > are replaced with [ and ] it'll show as:

Thanks for the explanation however here is the problem.

      I don't see this

      <quote>content 2<quote>content 1</quote></quote>

      I only see <quote>content 2</quote>

Hmm... I see the problem. I don't think there's an automatic way to do it, just pressing the quote button only gets the outermost (last) quote. It would have to be done manually then.

One way is to right-click the quote button (if using Firefox) and open a new tab, then cut and paste from the calling tab to 'recreate' in the editor the innermost quoted message as well as the outermost message (if you see what I mean).

Yes I realise that but surely there must be a better (i.e. automatic) way ?

I'll try to find someone who has made such a post
and see if I can prise out the secret from them
      - and report back

      Thanks
