Is there any reason why this thread would be closed?

I read the rules and don't see any reason why my thread would be closed. Help?

    Nice flip!

When I saw the thread earlier you had invited people to email you for help. That's self-promotion, which is only allowed in the paid forums or your sig file.

Offering help is considered self-promotion now? Interesting

The mods have no way of knowing what your motive is or what your offer is about, they only have experience to go on. It isn't just about you. Many an offer to help has been nothing more than an off-site sales pitch. You can help more people, if that's your real motive, by answering questions in the thread, that's the purpose of the forum.

When you're posting up your email address and asking people to contact you, it looks like self-promotion whether that was your intent or not. Posts like that always get deleted, edited, or locked. It's nothing new.

This thread will probably be deleted too. You might want to read the rules on the main forum again.

You can offer free help all day long on the free forums, what you did is drive traffic in the OP. There's a difference.

Edit: Thanks for the response. Since some people were asking... if you need some pointers or want to work on something together let me know. You can email me at XXXXXX['at']XXXXXX.net since I don't check this forum that often.

From reading the other thread, I would say that it is just like many threads that have come up before and then after it generates lots of congratulations, someone says 'you should make a product/set up a course/coach' and boom! The OPs signature soon holds a link to their WSO.

You give no specific details, even though people ask all kinds of questions. That is exactly how many have tried to pre-sell a WSO by making it look like everyone begged for it.

Not saying that was your motivation, but it's the pattern so the mods tend to err on the side of caution, particularly with newer, unknown and anonymous members.

Alot of people intend more to siphon off the forum more than to actually help, and as Dennis said, the mods play by what they know to be the rules, even though there is an occasional exception.

It was locked rather than deleted. Why is that a problem as long as the info is still there? Several of those commenting weren't adding anything useful and it's the type of thread that often spins off into a "prove it" and down the drain from there.
