5 kids with strange names:
Track
Bristol
Willow
Piper
Trig

Trig was born in April of this year and has downs syndrome. She went back to work as governor 3 days after giving birth to him.

Stuff I just found out from wiki not too long ago. I would never have guessed that she has a newborn infant at home.

Yes those are strange names at least in America. I'm trying to imagine being called "Trig" No, they can not help what their parents named them just like Obama can't help was his parents named him. And no I'm not judging them or hating them because of their names! Are you implying that I'm judging them or hating them because of their names? I have nothing against the kids and harbor no hate or prejudice. And your point is?? My point is- read the title again to see the point because you must have missed it- interesting stuff bout Palin. Anymore questions?

I actually think those names are kinda cool. Not wierd, just different from the norm - which is good in my opinion.

The going back to work 3 days after giving birth to a kid with downs syndrome is more concerning to me. What type of mother does that? Geez, I guess some things are more important than your kids (NOT).

I was shocked to hear she went back to work after 3 days of giving birth. Most women are still in pain and sore 3 days after birth. She must have high pain tolerance. I've heard of women not taking the entire 6 weeks of maternity leave, but never in my life have I heard of a mother going back to work 3 days afterward. She is tough, have to give her that.

There are women stronger than her. They are working in the fields, they go into labour, squart, give birth, tie the cord, put the baby on their back and continue to plough the field.

        Palin is not strong enough.

I also found out that she smokes her pot and enjoys it. She now says she does not enjoy it any more. The pot gives her a strong threshold maybe?

She conceived Track in the field while tracking moose?
She conceived Bristol when she was cleaning the house?
She conceived Willow under the willow tree?
She conceived Piper when she had to pay the piper
She conceived Trig while learning trigomatory to balance the Alaska budget?

Can you people find anything dumber to post about?

Why are you shocked that a woman can go on with her own life even after giving birth? Do you have children?

Sounds like another way to say "poor, little weak woman can't handle it all - it's just not right that she wants to do a hard job when she should be devoted to family instead".

Alaska isn't a climate for wimps or weak women.

She is strong because she has Mr. Mom for a husband.

I don't think the shock was about going on with her life. I think the shock is going back 3 days after the birth of a baby. I think it is obscene. Strong or not, it is a cold shot - the baby is with strangers (strangers=anyone but mom). The baby will never be 'the baby' again. Take a fricking week off at least!

It sucks because I know women have to work these days for financial reasons. Two incomes is not enough. It is usually 6 weeks and even that bites as far as I am concerned, but I know as I say it can't be avoided.

          And the REAL story is....

Three days after giving birth, Palin returned to work in her Anchorage office, accompanied by Trig and her husband.

This was not a mother's typical visit to the office to show off the new baby; instead, she was serving notice that a child of special needs will not hinder her professional commitments.

"It's a sign of the times to be able to do this," she said. "I can think of so many male candidates who watched families grow while they were in office.

"There is no reason to believe a woman can't do it with a growing family. My baby will not be at all or in any sense neglected."

The name Trig is a Norse word meaning "true" and "brave victory"
Trig was born a month early - which likely had to do with the quick return.

My own daughter-in-law returned to work quickly after giving birth - and took my grandson with her except on days when my son was not traveling. They truly share parenting with both of them the "primary care givers".

When we pass judgment on others - it's usually because they don't meet expectations we have set for ourselves. There is no "right" kind of family, but many families that work very well even though they don't live as we think they "should".

The newborn was not with strangers but with his dad (Mr. Mom) Palin's husband. He may not have breast milk but she can express and freeze and he can feed the baby.

ok - so now i have the real story. doesn't sound so bad with all the facts.

            I know what you mean:

... and yes I have one - I stayed home with him for 7 years - truth is we would both have been better off if I had gone back to work (*after a few months)

Well golly Miz Scarlet....I don no notin bout birthin babies..........

I do know Her husband is at least part Eskimo though - hense the propensity to unusual names. Eskimos name children by different customs than we name ours and they can have some very intriguing names.

As far as life in Alaska making her tough....tough enough you can bet. Even those in cush society get wilderness education up there - they are very close to nature and mostly respectful of it. I like that about her. Wonder if they ever do any gold prospecting.

You know what Kay? I can think of a hell of a lot dumber things to post about!!

And I'm not SHOCKED that she went on WITH HER LIFE, I am shocked she went back to work in 3 days when the normal maternity leave is 6 weeks. I have heard of women not taking the full 6 weeks of maternity leave but I've never heard of anyone going back in 3 days. So maybe "you people" know people who have gone back to work 2 seconds after giving birth, but I don't.

And I'm the last person on planet earth you want to lecture on not saying "OMG it's a WOMAN for VP" I am all for a woman president and vice president and I think a woman can do the job a lot better than the men have. And if it were up to me, men would be banned from being presidents. I don't have a single thing against Palin. So if it looks like I'm "woman bashing" you need to re-read. It is "things I learned that I didn't know" which is not the same as passing judgement. Did I say she was wrong for going back to work 3 days afterward? Nooooo. If you knew me, you'd know that I'm very unjudgemental. There's only a few things I'd judge someone on and it has nothing to do with race, gender, name, age, number of kids, name of kids, pets, hair color, shoe size, freckles, how soon after child birth did they return to work, toe length, etc etc etc.
