It's amazing how many new threads are being started where the person "needs to know something urgently." Whether it's about a plugin or the fastest way to make money or the best way to make money or what shortcuts are available...I find it amazing.

People, I'll let you in on a little secret. There's ONE real way to make money online and it is called "work." Maybe you have heard of it?
If not, then that's a worry.
Unless you're very, very lucky, nobody will hand you something on a gold plate. You have to earn your money. Sure, there are tools to help make some types of work easier but long term hard work is the real secret.

So stop waiting for a miracle to happen, get off your butt and take action today. Then, just maybe, you might earn some money.

Yep, pretty funny video, glad l missed that one!

Yep, too true, l have been working like a dog for a good 5 and a half years online.

Most of the time l learned something new and potentially valuable, but l couldn't use it directly to make money.

And of course the inevitable setbacks, dumb mistakes, con artist scams, and huge amounts of potentially wasted time occurred.

As well as setbacks that seemed like an impregnable wall, but there was always something better on the other side!

Then after more than 5 years of effort all the pieces fell into place and l found something that finally worked, and worked with what l had learned over the years.

Far better than the usual, create a great product and l find out video, audio, e-books are too common, so the price has to be too low for direct advertising. Then l create some software to get over that hurdle, but find it is in an area that has insanely expensive kw, costs, so it isn't viable again, etc.

This sort of crap can go on for years, until your mind or the universe sorts it all out, and you are in the right place at the right time.

Or your years of learning and application, ignoring silly remarks and temper tantrums, from what is left of your friends and family, finally pays off!

Laurence is right, hard work, learning, and consistent application in being the best you can, will shower you with more wealth than you can imagine!

The catch is to never give up regardless of anything!

The internet may be a huge collection of IM strategies, but in the end it is an enormous marketing network, so will take time and effort to figure it all out, so you can look over the whole landscape and know what to do and how to do it!

There were plenty of times l could have given up!

When a site l worked on for years, barely made me $3 a month in adsence, but costed me $30 a month l could have spit the dummy and given up!

When l bought a scammy product and before getting a refund l downloaded all the videos and audios l was entitled to, which because l didn't read the fine print for my broadband, it ended up costing me $300!

And the other time l bought a scammy listing company, which wouldn't except a cancellation of their $60 a month membership without having to fax it to them first.

And since they were on the other side of the planet and their fax machines were turned off of course it was a nightmare trying to get away from them.

The list is endless, but l also learned a great deal, and improved my techniques, so when something viable and scalable finally showed up l was ready.

      Never give up!

      Good luck!

It would appear that many people don't have the capacity to envisage first steps and destinations.

I think everyone sees the results but no one ever talks about the journey that they went through to get there. Therefore I think a lot of people think success comes instantly.

From what Frank Kern told me, 92% try once and then give up, and another 6%, try another one to three times and then give up!

Out of the one or two percent that is left, they don' stop! And they succeed.

Frank also said from personal experience, that most of the stuff you try online will fail, and only 2% of things you try will succeed, but those 2% of successes will dramatically change your life for the better. That can include your friends and family that don't go down the "you are lucky crap"..

Tattslotto with one chance in 13 million is luck, hard work, faith and persistent effort year after year until you succeed is opportunity!

      Shane

PS l recently overheard a neighbor talking to his girlfriend about opportunities, and he said he gave IM a week but it didn't work!!! LOL

I had to laugh, and l also wanted to tell him give it at least 5 years, (most make it in 5 years, but some may take 6 or 7)!

Disclaimer: this post is not properly proofed, like most of my posts are.

I most certainly agree with many points in this thread. With the economy tanking, unemployment at all time highs (yes, even now in 2013), many people are looking for quick money. Of course, there is no such thing, and so there is an endless cycle of new people being overwhelmed with information, trying something, and then giving up because it doesn't generate income out of the gate.

I've been mostly lurking here since 2010, and have yet to actually try to make money online in my own ventures. For me personally, this has primarily been a choice based on my own skill set and lack of solid ideas. So many marketers say "take action now!", and this bugs me to no end. I've been busy freelancing for sucessful marketing clients for a long time, and it's only now that I have enough skills to actually pull something off.

I'd much rather have a solid plan in place, and work towards that goal then throw myself willy nilly all over the place. I think this is why so many people have problems. They don't plan out their ideas. They don't research the demographic group they are targeting. And they think their first attempt will succeed, when in fact it takes practice to get this right.

My advice to just about anyone new to online marketing is learn a skill or two, freelance for clients using that skill, and learn from the people they are supporting. I do not say that because it's what I have done personally, but because I think it's a good way to "get your feet wet" before moving on to your own ventures.

I realize some people might disagree with this tactic, but for those with that "urgent" need to make quick income, it's a win-win. You make a bit of money, and in the process you gain valuable experience.

My apologies for this being something of a meandering post. Not enough coffee!
