The Psychopath Test

Jon Ronson is "one of the good guys" ... I have a couple of his books, and like him. But after my experiences with "the autism test" not so long ago, I'm really not sure I'm ready for "the psychopath test"!?

A year or so ago, I bought and read two books on being a psychopath or a sociopath. I actually wanted to see if I was a sociopath.

I don't think so, but it was a fascinating read.

Psychopaths are often drawn to money; being very egocentric and all. It always make me wonder since this forum is like a watering hole for them, how many are on this forum. Since they do their very best to blend in and come across as very likeable and respectful, I guess we will never know for sure.

I'm fairly psychopathic and I'm not "drawn" to money. I like it, sure, who doesn't....but actually don't give that much of a rip for it either way as long as I'm comfy and having a good time with life.

Psychiatry IS a pseudo science! WHY? It is SUBJECTIVE based on a loosely worded and too vague a definition. There is NO objective benchmark or EVEN enforcement.

BTW money is NOT said to be the root of all evil. It is the LOVE of money!

Just start up a thread here, or on any popular forum, about free energy, (just get any plausible video from Youtube) and l can guarantee you that you will get at least one!

I did a post like the above and had some well talking member try and say we were all nuts for believing in stuff like that, but put in a very elegant way.

Then l went to another forum with a similar thread with someone who was acting like his life depended on proving it was nonsense?

He was using capitals and every swearword in the book, it was laughable how insane he became to try to prove it wasn't possible. For the sake of this thread l won't say do l believe it is possible, only that it is a good way to weed one out!

I agree that the second one, might have been a control freak, who lost his job, etc, but the first one fits the bill.

It seems that there is at least one psychopath, or l tend use the word socialpath, on every main forum online, ready to discredit anyone who may damage their oil profits!

It just makes me more determined to uncover the truth!

Hypothetically speaking of course! LOL!

Shane - there's a big difference between a psychopath and a sociopath. Sociopaths are extremely dangerously derranged. Psychopaths are just bitches. They don't cross over til they start killing people.

Wholly untrue. Some psychopaths kill people. They are just more likely to be carefully planned murders. Psycopaths can hide in everyday society. Think Ted Bundy. Sociopaths are more impulsive and much more noticeably disturbed.

If I had to choose, I'd rather have a run in with a sociopath than a psychopath. At least I might get a heads up that I'm dealing with a nut job.

Right, tough choice, but l will stay with social paths, since if they are in a corner they might kill or give the order to, to protect their interests.

This relates to free energy, and the number of scientists that had death threats, prank calls, and the usual gov, committee confiscate their stuff, so they couldn't continue their work.

Two people in AU, developed something as well, and had threats, but that was about it. The AU gov, also funded it in it's final testing stages, but unfortunately most of it will probably be suppressed from the masses.

More social-path's in America than AU!

You think a sociopath can't fake it? Ted Bundy WAS a sociopath. I prefer psychopaths, because if they do kill at all - it's for a reason. Sociopaths kill because that's what they do. No reason needed. You think a mass murderer is just simply a psychopath? I disagree wholeheartedly with that. Whether they can hide it from you or not, they've crossed lines that I think sends them out of the psychopathic realms and into the sociopathic one.

That might not be what the textbooks say......but it's my own thoughts on the subject. I'm not a psychologist nor have I ever played one on TV, but I've got some psycholinguistics and cognitive science under my belt and that's the way I see it. If you don't agree, that's okay. I annoy the hell out of the NLP fad psychology crowd, too.

However, Bundy is irrelevant to the topic at hand: your concept that psychopaths aren't killers.

In my post, I simply pointed out that your thoughts on psychopaths not killing people was incorrect. It's not even something worth debating. Psychopaths and sociopaths kill people. The difference is basically in presentation.

I guess you can come up with your own definitions because you have "psycholinguistic training," but I highly doubt they're going to rewrite the DSM because you disagree with common theory.

I thought your final sentence in your post was cute. A subtle attempt to discredit my response by linking me to fad psychology. That's not quite the case. I just happen to live with a mental health counselor. Sometimes you just pick stuff up through osmosis.

Well, while I am not a psychologist, I have done some reading, and it is exactly the linguistics that make me think what I do about it. It seems to me that sociopaths are just the extreme fringe of pyschopaths. And why am I arguing this point? Um..............I really have no clue. :rolleyes: I just couldn't find much difference other then the level of danger a person presents. They're both dangerous, no doubt. But I actually can pass for psychopath on some levels......and I wouldn't kill anyone -- or anything else other than in self defense. So I have a hard time thinking of psychopaths in the light that some people do. I also don't consider cult leaders psychopaths, while they are often labeled as such. I find them completely sociopathic.
