Here we'll discuss everything MLB.
The state of the game, strategy, your team, great plays, bad plays....

You get the idea.

Gotta get back to Reds - Brewers so I'll check in again shortly.

Red Sox!!! Let's talk about them.

It was supposed to be a "rebuilding year" but they lead the majors in offense... I haven't quite figured out how far they'll get this year but they've been pretty consistent.

    Yes, I am a fan.

I think the umpiring today is atrocious. Something has to be done about it. I've
never seen so many bad calls in my life as I've seen these last few years.

        I agree.
One of my biggest pet peaves is the strike zone.
It's taken for granted that every umpire has his own zone,
even though there is a regulation strike zone in the rule book.
And, to add insult to injury, Back in the hay day of the Atlantic Braves,
it was simply accepted that Maddox and Glavin were given a bigger strike zone and got calls other pitchers wouldn't.

The zone is defined in the rule book.
They, MLB, needs to enforce it!

      Yes, I am a fan.
Let me start by saying we share a common Bond.
A deep hatred for The New York Yankees!

OK. Let's talk about the'75 World Series.

      Sorry, I couldn't resist.

      Best Series ever!
After game 5 when Fisk hit the famous game-winning HR,
Rose came off the field and said to Sparky: "What a great game!".
Sparky said: "Whatta ya' mean, we lost."
Rose said: "Don't worry Spark. We'll get 'em tomorrow."
If you ever wonder why Reds fans love Rose, that's why.
His attitude and approach to the game.

I am a long time (and long suffering ) Mets fan, but I absolutely LOVED the Big Red Machine. I saw them play the Mets at Shea back in 73 or 74. Our seats were field level about 10 rows behind the Reds dugout.

        Bench
        Rose
        Griffey Sr.
        Foster
        Morgan

The Big Red Machine was one of the greatest teams ever and to this day, Johnny Bench is still one of my all time favorite catchers.

There has been much debate over which was the best team ever: The '27 Yankees, or the '76 Reds.

            Personally, I don't believe the '27 Yankees could have done this;

In the peak years of the dynasty, from 1972-1976, the Reds' winning percentage averaged .626 -- or 100 wins a season.

But the Great Eight were together as starters only on the consecutive World Champions of 1975-76. Those Reds' teams played a total of 351 games and won 224 of them, including postseason games. That's a .638 winning percentage.

The Great Eight played only 88 games together as a starting lineup in 1975-76. They went 69-19 -- a .784 winning percentage.

And, a nice bit of trivia; The Cincinnati Reds have not lost a World Series game since game 6 in '75. They have won 9 consecutive World Series games.

One of my favorite memories of Bench is:

The opposing batter strikes out but reaches on either a passed ball or a wild pitch.
The next pitch Bench throws a bb to first from his knees
            and picks the guy off.

Well, we have a few things in common.
A love for the Big Red Machine.
And. our teams beat the Red Sox in The World Series.

OK, here's something a little more of why this thread was started.
    Man on first, 0 outs.
    Score: 4 - 2
    You're the visiting team.
Do you bunt the man to 2nd?

      Let me elaborate:

      Lead-off hitter on first.
      2 hitter batting 240.
      3 hitter batting 325 with 15 HR.
4 hitter batting 285 with 12 HR and 3rd in the league in RBI
      and hitting 325 w/risp.

I just told my wife there are no Reds games for the next 4 days.
She wanted to know if I'd be having withdrawals.:p
