Due to a recently being ripped off by a local contractor I have been able to find a few others who also been taken by same company.
I have learned that getting info out to find others being taken locally is hard and finding info who to report takes alot of leg work but I have learned some of the resources available with hrs of searching and phone calls.
I want to start a website where locals can go to and post and read about others being ripped off and have resources to help them report to several places ie. BBB,Ministry Consumer Services, who to contact to see if someone went bankrupt if they tell you why not refunding money ie deposit.

Would it be best to lay it out in forum type or blog type to allow posting from anyone who wants to converse with group on website?
Suggestions appreciated.

I think you'd be better off taking the contractor to court. What I've seen of sites like that - they end up being full of complaining and whining and charges of theft....and there's no guarantee the stories people post are true or complete.

A site to allow people to complain doesn't accomplish anything - a lawsuit does.

That's true, you would get a lot of places writing bad reviews on their competitors to make them look bad. If this company sucks and legit scammed you, take their ass to court!

Being "ripped off" is very often subjective. What if you allow someone to post their experience with a service provider and they lie about it. That service provider can come after you and sue you silly. There are many other problems with sites like that. I understand the sting of your experience but as Kay said, use the court to make your statement and leave the rest alone. Good luck.
