Do you want me to tell you how he does it? Hint; It's the same way they saw a woman in half.

    David Copperfield does it too.

      Gee thanks, Claude.

That's like telling me it's magic.

You got something better up your sleeve?

I'm game, but please don't tell me it was trick photography. That would certainly disappoint me.

            Nope.
The bottom half (pants) are fake from the knees up, and the top half is fake from the chest down. He's just twisting a little and bending at the knees. his upper body appears to be standing straight up and down, but it's twisted to the side under the body panel. The same effect makes it look like his lower body is straight up and down...but disconnected.

The panels have no back, so it's easy to simply back out of the fake body panels. He's just crouching a little. But after a few minutes, it's pretty hard on the knees.

The way David Copperfield does it is the same...but he starts out standing normally. The back of the fake plastic pants above the knee is slotted so he can back out of the pants, and it will look like he's still in them. The same with the shirt. The real skill is breaking out of the fake panels...and not giving it away.

It looks even freakier than this guy. You have to see the magician from the front. From the side or back, it's obvious how it's done.

Sawing a lady in half, the lady has an outfit with a rigid front panel covering her stomach and hips, under the dress. When she lays on the table, there is a hollow in the table that she sinks into, at her waist. Because her dress has a rigid panel underneath, it still appears that she is laying flat on the table.

So the saw (which is real) just saws through the hollow panel under the dress. Sometimes they put some blood squibs under the panel, that burst when the saw hits them. Very real looking.

These fake body panels is also how the "Cutting off the head in a guillotine illusion" works.

I can levitate a few inches off the ground, and it would really freak you out if you saw it.

It involves nearly the same gimmick, but with shoes with fake soles in the front.
I did it once in front of one of my aunts, and she started screaming. She thought I was possessed by the devil. It took me several minutes to calm her down and show her that it was a trick.

I learned my lesson. Always tell them it's an illusion before you do it. Then show them how it's done.

I was standing in line at a restaurant a few years ago. Someone in line mentioned David Copperfield. A young adult said "I hear he uses real magic". I just had to turn around and see what someone like that looked like.

I have a good friend that used to be a Las Vegas stage hypnotist. He told me that some people would insist that he had special powers...It really bothered him. And nothing he said would change their minds.

              Oooh!

Huh, I didn't know any of that.

Guess that's why I'm not a magician, haha!

Huh. And here's me thinking your hairy headphones attachment on your avatar is real. Disappointment has no bounds.

HA! I never thought of my hair as "Hairy Headphones" before. But I see it.
