hi Warriors - I didn't find a website review section so I thought I'd post this in the Off-Topic section.

I have a wordpress blog, seemingly I'm the only one getting the posts to load very slowly or not load at all. The pages within this blog, categories and other tag pages load fairly fast.

Does anyone else have issues with the Posts loading time?

Thanks

.... here's the URL All Documentaries | Documentaries | Documentary Films (this is the homepage, it loads fairly well)

here's a post URL http://www.alldocumentaries.org/cuba/ (all the posts seem to get a 504 server error, I always wondered if this is just me, most people I've asked told me that it's working fine for them)

First link worked fine. Second link timed out.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Thanks Dennis, seem like a server issue, I switched my hosting company, looking for a cheaper alternative, and it seems that I will need to go back to HostGator.

      ..... cheap stuff... always sucks.

That does load very slow for what it is. Who is the host?
    The server is overloaded.
Hostgator is for sure overloaded, so don't switch back.

Never had such issues with hostgator, so I might just switch back. (in my opinion hostgator beats every other shared hosting I've tried in the past)

I switched to a smaller hosting company, based in Europe, because the price is 1 EURO/month and it seemed attractive, but seemingly their servers just suck.

Homepage loads fine for me, the posts are timing out. Categories also load fine so seems like it's some configuration issue with Wordpress and not the server performance.

Agree that generally Hostgator is pretty good, never had much of a problem with page load speed.

Maybe check out your htaccess file.

I don't think anything is wrong with the wp-configuration since it has been working fine with the previous hosting, with the same configuration.

All of sudden I can't get the posts to load properly on my new hosting.

The 504 error is a server error, seems that the server is not responding.

      HTTP Error 504 Gateway timeout

A server (not necessarily a Web server) is acting as a gateway or proxy to fulfil the request by the client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) to access the requested URL. This server did not receive a timely response from an upstream server it accessed to deal with your HTTP request.

This usually means that the upstream server is down (no response to the gateway/proxy), rather than that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data.

This problem is entirely due to slow IP communication between back-end computers, possibly including the Web server. Only the people who set up the network at the site which hosts the Web server can fix this problem.

Just asking, what could be wrong with the htaccess file?

Hi, yes usually I'd think it's the server too. But in your case the server seems fine as everything else loads ok.

If there is some problem with how the posts' urls are being configured it might lead to that error (for instance a loop). I brought up htaccess as I found a similar issue in WP support, although theirs was a little different.

Maybe try changing the permalinks setting in WP, sometimes this gets corrupted and resetting it can work. I've had to do this a few times on WP installs (although those didn't result in 504 errors).
