I just don't like many vegetables and found that nuts and seeds can give the same nutrition as vegetables. A mix of cashews, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts and sun flower seeds has plenty of nutrition, and for me tastes much, MUCH better.

This got me thinking...there used to be all sorts of nuts you could buy in bulk in the produce department of the grocery store, but now they're only available in packages in the snack aisle. I really never noticed that they weren't there, until just now.

My question: can you still buy nuts in bulk at the grocery stores where you live?

I must say that I have never had a man ask me that.

Oh, those nuts... I'm kind-of with you on this. I believe that some nuts also increase testosterone levels. Just an added benefit.

I don't know Kurt. I think they still have bulk nuts at the store, if not I know the co-ops do.
For the most part I get my nuts out of my yard when I want them.
I have 5 Butter nut trees (Juglans cinerea) in my property with a few more in back in the woods. A friend near by has a few Walnut (Juglans nigria) trees in his yard. Plus there are still some Shagbark Hickory (Carya ovata) in the area.

Come to think of it, I think the grocery stores around me stopped carrying them in bulk as well. But I know I can get them in the health food stores.

One thing nuts have that veggies don't is lots and lots of calories. So, if that is a concern, proceed cautiously.

At least one grocery store here sells nuts in bulk. Most are pretty pricey though.

Our Giant Eagle just did a major expansion and brought back bulk nuts, salts, dried peppers, (expensive) dried mushroom, ect. It's foodie heaven. You can even buy a micro brew or glass of wine and drink it while you shop.

Back when a family friend owned a small chain of health food stores, I would sometimes help make small bags of spices/nuts from bulk cases she bought at wholesale. I'm pretty sure the name of one place she bought in bulk from had Georgia in the business name (US business).

In my area, Fred Myers has a bulk section and carries all sorts of nuts and seeds. I am highly allergic to nuts, but enjoy buying sunflower, pepitas, and flax in bulk. Right now the only way to get hemp seeds out here is in hemp milk, but I LOVE those and they are superior nutrition.

I've never noticed this, but I tend to shop at places like Whole Foods
and at different farmers' markets, and so there is always plenty of
choice for nuts. Plenty of "fill your own bag" kind of things are available.

Also, Texas has a lot of nut producing trees, so that might be a factor
as to why various nuts always seem readily available around here?
A very diverse ethnic population might also affect supply & demand?

Very interesting question, leads to more questions, LOL
