This can be funny while tragic at the same time.

I see it even in people's 'given' names because so many of our applicants are 'foreign' and what may mean 'ca-ca' to us does not mean that in their language and they would even name their children 'ca-ca' -

I really feel sorry for them but never mention it - eventually some will come up with a domain name change or even ask that they be able to use their 'nickname' as I am sure some savvy net cafe denizen has laughed out loud - 'that is REEEEALLY your name/domain name'????

    'live and learn'!

p.s. but what really gets my 'goat' is people who misspell words in their domain name - you would think in making a critical decision like that involving money - you could take 2 minutes if you are not sure of the spelling - I see this all the time - just yesterday 'walet' (wallet) - and 'oneline' (online) - I know there is a market for getting traffic from misspelling - but I really doubt that is why people are so sloppy in most cases.

You've hit on something that rung a bell. Years ago a friend of mine knew a woman. Her name phonetically was Ur-een. The actual spelling was Urine. Her parents were functionally illiterate. Still, you'd think someone would have stepped up in the hospital when the mom told them her new baby's name for the record.
