I WISH I could give details! Apparently, the onion rcently created an ABSURD headline and article, with a certain main character. Change the main characters name to the CURRENT player, and IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! It is SAD!

Unlike in years past, the news outlets now have access to instant analytics, and they're seeing what we internet marketers are seeing, and that is that the more absurd the headline is the higher the traffic. So now they're trying to take an ordinary story and put an outstanding twist on it to give it an attention grabbing headline.

For instance, what might be an ordinary trip to KFC for the president could turn into a headline like: "President Seen Grabbing Colonels Breasts".

I don't see the trend turning around any time soon, unless people just start getting overloaded with these trumped up headlines.

GIVE ME A BREAK! You ******REALLY****** think that after THOUSANDS of years, they didn't know this!?!?!? THAT IS BULL!!!!! When I was a kid, there was a FAMOUS saying! HECK, it may date back over 100 years or more! Dog bites man is NO story. Man bites dog IS a story! I am paraphrasing, but you get the idea. HECK, I LOVE LuCY covered this a lot.

So WHY are things getting so ABSURD? TWO REASONS!!!!!!!!

1. People are going nuts, and crazy things are happening!
2. BECAUSE of #1, people are EXHAUSTED by the crazy headlines, and companies are showing even CRAZIER ones!

Of course people know this - I never said they didn't - but they've never had a tangible way to track it in real time like they do now.

And things are not much crazier, there's just more people on the planet, and a lot more coverage of everything we do thanks to smart-phones w/ cameras and the internet. Combine that w/ a 24 hour news cycle, and hundreds if not thousands of news sources competing for headlines, and you have the recipe for ever increasingly absurd headlines.

The first headline is absolutely terrible. Who writes these crap headlines anyway?

"The body of Christ served on the carcass of a cow?"

Ya, that's enough to infuriate me and get my blood boiling. Now I'm pissed.

YEAH, a catholic might read it that way, but this is due to the apparent desire by some to insult, or figuring that anything is fair game, and they use whatever is around. etc... Like the cross in urine, etc....

Ar you sure YOU don't write the headlines? YOUR'S is a more sensational headline than that first one and COULD conceivbly be said to mean the same thing!

Offensive and sensationalism isn't hard to do, is it?

If you asked me to come up with a headline for just the burger, that would take time and a lot of thought.

Ask me to come up with one for the wafer (not in a religious text), and it's doubtful I could even come up with a bad one.

Check out Trust me, I'm lying. Can't saY if the book is factual, fiction, or in between, but the topics of being paid to get eye balls has a ring of truth to it.
As for history, I've read that yellow journalism helped start the Spanish-American war , then again when has the news media NOT contributed to both the start and stoping of altercations?
