    Did you unzip them first?
Also some plugins require you to upload a single php file, others a folder with many files in it.
You need to unzip the plugin, check to see if there is a single php file in the folder (with a readme file) or if there is a folder inside the folder with many (or at least more then one) files in it. If there is just one file then just upload the one file. If there is a folder with many files in it then upload the fplder.

    Dear Sir,
I have been following your Taxidermy Made Easy series from the 2nd lesson.
I have a problem though: I can't get the animal to stand still long enough to put the stuffing in! Please help! Frustrated

If possible try installing plugin from your wordpress dashbaord under >Plugins>addnew

Else..when you unzip the folder.. do check unzipped files are under the root of the folder...

A lot of plugins are nested ie they are an inner folder if you upload the outer folder to wp-content/plugins they will often not unpack therefore you won't see them in your plugin menu. Open up the plugin and shock, horror, read the "read me" file it will usually tell you which folder to upload to wp-content/plugins. You can also search for the plugin if you are using WP 2.7 in Plugins/Add New and install from the dashboard if the plugins are in the WP repository.

    All the best
    Leanne
