Spontaneous?

So I was talking to my niece on the phone a few weeks ago and she was whining about really wanting to go back to Nevada to do some more rock hunting. We had a great time when I lived there. Well, of course, it's late in the year for risking outdoors plans. She got me thinking though, I hadn't talked to Tim, my landlord down there, in awhile so I called him and we were chattering. He missed me and wished I'd come to see him sometime. So I got off the phone, looked at my budget real quick and called My niece up and told her - I can do this, lets go next weekend. And we went. And we had hella fun. I only was able to swing one day off work so had to drive 500 miles back and then go to work Monday. LOL. That part sucked, but the trip was really was a needed attitude adjustment.

Anyone else like to do things on the spur of the minute or do you plan things down real well before you do something?

    I did before I got married. Not so much anymore. We do a few spontaneous things, but not usually "500 miles away" spontaneous.

    I love my wife, but in some ways marriage is a real "fun" inhibitor.

      Yeah, there are certain folks I can't hang around with anymore, due to marriage, eg Triads, Yakuza, Insurance reps, Hells Angels,Bankers, and other criminal elements.

    When I start seeing someone in seriousness, I always warn them that there will be times I'm going to just take off. They are welcome to come with - but don't ever think of telling me "you can't go" or it's a deal breaker. Usually, in fact, almost always, I'm taking off to go rock hunting. I don't take no for an answer from anyone if I want to go somewhere. And yes, that "attitude" has dissolved more than one relationship. Seriously though - I'd have missed my trips out more than I miss them so it's all good.

    Sounds fun! I have often envisioned myself just jumping on a plan and going some where unexpected. It would be nice to not be responsible for a few days! My hats off to you! FYI I'm a woman and I'm saying it! Lol...

      I'm a woman, and I live it. Not surprising you would feel like that. Guess what? If you feel that way - just do it someday. Hand everyone else the to-do's or take the kids to grandparents or whoever will handle them for a few days on short notice and just go do something you really want to do.

      In fact if you have a family that counts on you, sometimes it is a good idea to remind them just how much you do for them when they get stuck doing without you - it's win/win all the way.

        Amazing! Your right! I know very little about you but I certainly already love you lol! I keep saying I need to get away! That time needs to be now! I'll let u know when I make the plunge!
